Choosing a printer for your home office use

Are you looking for a printer for your home office use? It is a rather daunting task especially since you are surrounded by so many choices that can really make it difficult to select the best home office printer from the shelf. And researching over the internet just doesn't help much because every website worth its salt, talks about "best printer ever is..." just adding to the confusion!

If you are like me, then the biggest obstacle you will face is just not being sure where to begin your search. Gosh! There are just too many types of printers and brands to choose from….being spoilt for choice just does not help here.

Let us cut to the chase and start at the very beginning. By now you must be really wondering, "How many types of printers are there?". The last time I counted, there were three basic types and I am sure that number is still constant. These three types are laser, inkjet, and dot matrix. We are going to look at each of these type individually and then share the pros and cons of each type of home office printer with you so that you are clear on whether it fits with your business/home requirements or not.

Dot Matrix

It's the oldest type of printer currently in the market. Similar to a typewriter in function, they print using an inked ribbon that is impressed upon by a printhead to generate the print on the paper. Dot matrix printers were considered pioneers at the time of introduction. However, now their technology is redundant, because better performing printers have been introduced since then.

That being said, it's also a common sight to still find many companies using these printers. Why, did you ask? Because dot matrix printers are the only printers capable of producing carbon copies, making it easy for banks and payroll departments of companies to tolerate these noisy beasts!

If you also require a printer for this specific need, dot matrix printer will do the job well. Here’s what you need to consider:

Dot Matrix Printer's Pros

* Can easily print on multipart forms (read carbon copy)

* Very economical

Dot Matrix Printer's Cons

* Very noisy

* Poor quality output

Inkjet

One of my favorite types of printer, inkjet printer works by ejecting many hundreds of tiny drops of ink on to the paper. Each company has its own technology but the common this is the result - noiseless, crisp printing at low costs.

The cartridges used in these printers cost a fortune. But that's how printer companies make their money. They keep the cost of the printer low but make the cartridges expensive. And did you know that it is cheaper to fill a pool with vintage champagne than with printer ink?

The resolution or the quality of print offered by inkjet printers is measured in DPI or (dots per inch). The higher the DPI, the better the print quality. You can also choose from colored printers to photorealistic models. If you are require the printer for printing high quality graphic work or want to print family pictures, a photo inkjet printer can be avoided.

An inkjet printer can be yours for around $85 to $200. Don’t aim for the really cheap ones because you’ll be disappointed by the performance. Check some inkjet printers here. Remember; as far as printers go, you'll get what you pay for.

Inkjet Printer's Pros

* Quiet operation

* High quality print outs

Inkjet Printer's Cons

* Ink tends to smudge

* Cartridges are very expensive to replace

Laser

A high-end printer technology, laser printers have been available for some time now. Though complex in printing technology, laser printers give you great quality prints. Each paper that passes through the printer is given a negative charge while the toner is positively charged. These opposite charges attract toner to the paper where it is heated to make it hold onto the paper.

The laser's functionality is limited to "drawing" out which parts of the page should be positive or negative in charge.

A great print quality and excellent, quite functioning, laser printers are the most expensive of all printer types and the cost of their spares can be jaw dropping! If you want to know the cost of running the printer, simply ask the salesperson for this information for the first 12 months. DON'T buy a laser printer without knowing what the first year’s cost is going to be.

Laser Printer's Pros

* Extremely fast

* Impressive black and color print quality

Laser Printer's Cons

* High running costs

* Expensive Repairs

So finally that one question that is still left unanswered. "What is the best home office printer?". This really depends on your need and your budget. According to common knowledge, a mid-range inkjet printer from HP, Lexmark, Epson, or Canon would sever your SOHO needs well. And remember; stick with printer manufacturers that you recognize.

Home theater speakers

In a typical home theater setup, there should be six home theater speakers: two front speakers, two surround speakers, a center speaker and a subwoofer for the lowest frequency ranges. There are two ways to obtain all these speakers: buying each of them seperately, or buying a home theater speaker set.

Home Theater Speaker Sets

If you're low on budget, you should think about one of these. But remember: don't spare on speakers, they're very important. There are lots of cheap home theater speaker sets on the market, but you shouldn't buy one of them, because these are of poor quality. Usually, sets manufactured by well-know brands (Klipsch, Bose, for example) produce a decent sound. This way you'll still not spend as much as you would on separate speakers. If you're thinking about buying one of these sets, read our article on home theatres in a box.

Going One By One

So, you're serious about your future home theater, and want to spend a little more on the speakers? Buying speakers separately has many advantages: it's the best quality you can have, and another, often overlooked advantage is that you can don't have to buy the whole set at a time, so if you haven't got the money, you can still have high quality speakers in your setup.

Your front speakers should be the strongest members in your home theater speaker setup. If you have a small room, choose bookshelf speakers. Larger rooms will require larger speakers; in this case, powerful floor-standing speakers is the choice to go with.

I often hear that it is advisable to have the exact same speakers for surround and front. This is true, but it's not very practical: movie sound mixes don't use surround speakers as much as they use the front speakers. So, you can choose smaller and less-powerful speakers for your surround setup, it won't make significant differences anywhere except your wallet.

The surround and front units were good, old-fashioned hi-fi speakers used for a home theater setup. The case is different with our center speaker. It's a special speaker with unique frequency response. If it's possible, have the center speaker from the same brand as the surround and front speakers. This unit is also often overlooked, but it's very important, because this speaker is used for voices and talking in a sound mix.

The subwoofer is used to reproduce the lower frequencies. Sometimes, it's optional: the front speakers can be powerful enough to rock the house, and an additional subwoofer is not needed. However, in larger rooms, it's inevitable. Subwoofers require lots of power, and in most cases, they require their own power input (these are called "active subwoofers").

Casino bonuses jackpots in online casinos. part two

The lucky winner was a gambler of InterCasino with a nick "Obaesso" - middle-aged factory worker, who plans to travel around the world (before he had not left his native town further than 50 kilometers). However, the winner has not received all the money, but just a modest part of $5,9 mln., another $2 mln. remained in the game. But in this case, there was no need to wait for long months - the jackpot was again broken in a couple of weeks, and moreover at a pound casino, so the prize equaled 2 million pounds or about 4 million dollars. This is how the online casinos added another couple of people to the club of millionaires.

Probably video poker is the second game with often occurrence of jackpot. Jackpot can be added to various versions of game as payment for picking up royal flash. Jackpot is usually paid only in a game of 5 coins and starts at 800 -1000 bets. However, jackpots are seldom happened greater in video poker, usually they range from $1-7 thousands (depending on the value of coins - 25 cents or $1).

Jackpots are nonetheless popular in another poker game - Caribbean Poker. A player can make an extra bet of exactly one dollar for jackpot. If he gets royal flash, then he takes the entire accumulated sum, if he gets street flash, then he wins 10 % of a jackpot. The sum of the jackpot in this game usually amounts to $100-$200 thousands and the record won sum equals to $720000.

Jackpots in slots, video and Caribbean poker can be found in most casinos, other games offer jackpots quite more seldom, though, in fact, jackpot can be "adjusted" to any game.

Microgaming casino offers roulette jackpot. You can win quite good money of several hundreds thousand dollars, if you win the bet at the same number five times in a row. Progressive blackjack also exists in Cryptologic casino and OddsOn casino. In fact, jackpot can be added in any case - the main condition for that is the demand for the game.

As we see, jackpots manage to fulfill their task and allow some players to win a lot of money, but does it mean that it is worth chasing down the jackpots? In most cases - no. Unfortunately, the casinos use the popularity of jackpot slots and set lower payment percentage for them. As a result the risk of losing considerably increases. I've already written in one of my articles, that in fact, the jackpot games can be of positive mathematic expectation for a gambler. Unfortunately mathematic expectation cannot be computed for the slots. So we can only hope that jackpot is big enough to take risks. In video and Caribbean poker mathematic expectation can be calculated at the given amount of jackpot. When the game has the player's preference, there is an opportunity to have such amount of jackpot. In this case, you can enter the game, though you should not rely on winning too much. The chance of winning the gain does not increase with growth of the jackpot.

Some gamblers may be worrying if the casino is able to pay them such great amount of money, if they manage to break the jackpot. If it is a small casino with unknown software, and which promises jackpots hundreds of thousands of dollars - I doubt if jackpot can really be broken there. But you should have no doubt if you deal with casinos of the famous software producers. The software producer himself provides for jackpot and he pays the gains. The funds are created in advance and there are no problems with the payments.

If you hope to get rich with the help of jackpot - play in the famous casinos from the famous software providers and good luck to you.

How can you be successful with a work from home business

There are reasons why parents want to work from home. But how can work from home parents make a good planning such that it will be a happy one for both themselves and their kids? Read the following to learn more

Many mothers and fathers find that the financial demands of a family requires two incomes. However, when the cost of child care combined with transportation and other necessities of work end up voiding the financial benefits, some parents decide that the best way to make ends meet is to care for their own children while they work from home.

Taking this step has both benefits and drawbacks. How are they best handled so that all responsibilities are met and you and your children are happy ?

Have a Schedule

Creating a schedule for your workday is important in balancing the limited time available for work and children. Your children may not have all your attention all the time, but setting aside regular intervals of dedicated time for them will make your day, and their's, more pleasant.

When planning your time, use it wisely. For instance, making meals could be done quicker if you do it yourself, but it will become an activity and entertainment to your pre-schooler if they are involved. Using evening, early morning and nap time for work is also wise.

Your children will accept their 'free time' without you more readily if they know that they do not have to pry you from your work to get attention. Using intervals of time for them will assure your children of your interest and love while enabling you to complete work as undistracted as possible.

Get Out Of the House

If possible, take time every day to get out of the house. A walk around the block, a trip to the mall, or a visit with friends.

It is beneficial for you to step away from the demands of work and it is good for your children to have your undivided attention.

See People

It is far too easy to get caught up in balancing work and children while neglecting your own needs. See people. At the park or with a neighbor, you need adult interaction to clear your head and refresh you even if you work from home.

Share the Load

Whether that means hiring outside help for some of the child care or housework, or just having a supportive mate who recognizes that work from home is as time consuming as working away, do not plan to work, care for children and do all the housework without assistance.

It is not easy to work from home with young children. The pros and cons should be carefully considered. However, if you feel it suits your family then your children will thank you. You will enjoy many aspects of your children that other parents miss and your children will benefit from knowing they always have a parent home for them.

So, do you have the desire to work from home so that you have enough time for your children and at the same time meet your financial needs? If this is your wish, do not hesitate anymore. Visit my website to learn more on what are the work from home opportunities that you can start with to fulfill your long awaited wish.

Skin cancer myths... are you safe

Sara spends much of her summer near the beach. She lives in a mild climate and is very athletic. She loves to swim, bike, and play games outdoors. Sara knows the dangers of the sun and so she opts for tanning salons to get her 'golden glow' while being sure to apply sunscreen every day before heading out.

Joseph lives in a cooler, northern climate. The summers can be very humid, but most of the year is mild or even below freezing during the harshest winter months. The beach has never been much of a draw for him and he spends most of his time doing indoor activities or at his job. Joseph doesn't worry about sunscreen and only had one sunburn that he can remember and that was when he was a child.

--------------------

Which of these examples do you most associate yourself with? Did you know that Sara and Joseph are both at risk of developing skin cancer? We have all heard the warnings about the dangers of sun exposure. We know all about the importance of wearing sunscreen and hats. But are YOU protected from skin cancer? Consider these myths and facts:

- Myth: Tanning Beds are Safer than the Sun

20 minutes of exposure in a tanning bed is roughly equivalent to four hours in the sun. Although sun beds use UVA rather than UVB rays, 'The Skin Cancer Answer' states that "UVA penetrates more deeply into the skin than UVB, can cause skin cancer, and may suppress the immune system."

- Myth: Wearing Sunscreen at the Beach is Protection

85 percent of UV rays can even make it through on cloudy days. That means you are equally at risk in the car, walking the dog or letting your children out to play at any time of year - even when you're not at the beach. Of course, you are usually less attired at the beach and so covering up is recommended even when wearing sunscreen. Sunscreen also wears off with sweat and water and should always be applied every two hours or after getting wet.

- Myth: Taking Care Of Your Skin Now Will Protect You

Sadly, skin cancer can take 20 or more years to develop. The Skin Cancer Foundation states that most people receive about 80 percent of their lifetime sun exposure before the age of 18. Just one blistering sunburn in childhood is estimated to double the risk of melanoma later in life. Taking better care now will reduce the risk, but not eliminate the damage already done.

- Myth: Having a Tan Means You're More Protected

Dark skinned individuals are less likely to develop cancer, but tanned skin is actually damaged skin. Repeated tanning injures the skin and increases the risk of skin cancer.

So how do you plan to protect your family this year? Some suggestions are to limit exposure to the sun - especially for infants. Examine your skin for early signs of damage. Use a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher and apply it at least 30 minutes before exposure and every two hours after that. Teach your children good safety habits and be sure you and they are covered up when outdoors.

Have fun and be safe.

6 internet marketing myths

6 Internet Marketing Myths - By: goalsetter

Every day thousands of people go online to make money but most of them fail miserably because they either truly believe one of the 6 Internet Marketing Myths or or all of them. You can read them below and discover the grain of salt in all of them.

Myth #1: Internet Marketing is EASY

This is probably the biggest myth of all, and let me tell you Internet marketing is hard, takes time, effort not mention money and anyone who suggests otherwise is trying to sell you a bunch of horse hockey. Granted that it's comparatively easier to brick and mortar in that there's no inventory to carry, no shipping of goods no sales staff and virtually no overhead, but a lot of work is still involved.

Myth #2: ANYONE Can Make Money Online

Folks, this is simply not true. Unless someone gets off their lazy boy recliner and download/read everything they can about internet marketing, and put an action plan in motion, they will never make a dime on the internet. DO NOTHING, MAKE NOTHING.

Myth #3: You Can "GET RICH QUICK" On the Net!

This is the trap that a lot of newbie internet marketers falls into including myself when I first started, why? because scammers make it sounds so easy and let me tell you, chasing "get rich quick scheme" is a WASTE OF TIME!, money and energy. It just won't happen overnight, instead do some research and find out what people really want and need then give it to them especially a sense of reality.

Myth #4: It's FREE to Do Business Online

This is one of my favorite myths because I believed it during my first year of internet marketing and it just wasn't true then, it isn't true today. Compared to opening your first coffee shop or gift shop in downtown Los Angeles, internet business start-up cost and maintenance cost is pretty low. Once you have your domain set up, you only pay for internet connection, advertising and ongoing educations, that's it. You can't expect to make money selling free stuff and ask others to do the same. Folks! it takes money to

make money.

Myth #5: It's TOO LATE to Start an Internet Business

Most internet marketers would love to hear people say "It's too late now, too many competitions, I should just pack my bags and go home, the internet is too complicated, etc...". You know why? the less people they have to compete with the better which in turn will make them more money.

The fact is, it's never ever too late to start anything and that includes internet business. I firmly believe that the internet is not going anywhere and you should too. Every year the stats will show you the number of people shopping

online are increasing, their spending dollars are growing and the number of people going online is increasing also.

Myth #6: The BIG Money Talk is JUST HYPE

As I've told you before, "it takes money to make money?" Well it's true, although you will be hard pressed to find experienced internet marketers to tell how much they spend on promoting and advertising. Sometimes, you have to dig a little deeper to find the truth in every hype you read. It's a fact that the people that makes alot of money online also spends alot of money on advertising, tools, resources and know how to get the job done.

If you are willing to take the necessary action to make 'big money' happen for you - it will. It takes time. You can criticize, be skeptical and sure that 'big money' can't happen for you - and it won't. Sit down and write a financial and a sound business plan. Local Chamber of Commerce can give all the info you need to get started.

If you believe that you will succeed you're right, if you believe that it won't work, you're right also.

To summarize, you have heard people's story how they're making a fortune on the internet and how easy it is but the reality is some stories are NOT out of this world or unrealistic but it just doesn't happen overnight. You just

have to apply a bit of common sense into it, find what you love to do, have a game plan, stay focus and you my friend might find the right opportunity to make all your dreams come true.

Perception that can destroy your abundance

This report is part of a series that I’ve developed to help new home business entrepreneurs succeed. I want to offer some insights into the process of building a nice income with a home-based business. Specifically, this report will cover Network Marketing.

If you are looking at joining a Network Marketing opportunity, you may want to hold onto this report and share it with others you recruit later on. You will most-likely be bringing people into your opportunity who has never been involved with the Network Marketing industry. If you really want to succeed in a major way, it is certainly important that you train and equip the people you recruit, so that they can also achieve success.

Let’s get started…

First of all, I'll begin by sounding a bit "negative". I'm certainly not trying to be negative, however, I do want to give you the REALITY - and sometimes reality is tough.

So here you go…

The vast majority of people will fail with ANY opportunity they work. Obviously, there are some reasons for that, many of which do NOT even involve the company or product they are working. I’m sure there were some people who started the first day with Sam Walton but left WalMart because they didn’t “see” the potential – or perhaps didn’t want to deal with the hardships that come with a new start-up. Imagine where they would be financially today if they had endured those first difficult days?

Success is rarely achieved without proper “seasoning”. There are some things that you will need to understand and accept - so you are able to handle success. Without proper training, any success you achieve will likely be short-term.

In the home business industry (specifically Network Marketing), I've found that when people do not succeed the first thing many will do is complain that the opportunity was a failure. The reality is... the person failed the opportunity.

Have you ever had anyone ask you "Is that deal you're in working for you?" I've had it asked of me countless times by people trying to determine if they want to join me in the venture. The question ALWAYS amazes me. I ‘m sure what they are “really” wanting to know is if I'm making any money or not. But the question exposes a MAJOR perception problem that we must learn to overcome if we are going to be successful.

When you overcome this obstacle, you will be well on your way to becoming VERY successful in Network Marketing, or any other home business.

The obstacle that you must immediately overcome is... the PERCEPTION that you don't have to put forth an effort to earn a big income.

The reality is... YOU DO!

To assume that all you have to do is sign-up for a “deal” and you’ll start raking in boatloads of cash, is simply wrong. Don’t buy it, and don’t ever use it to recruit others!

Before I expound further, I've got to say this...

I've NEVER had a "deal work for me"! In fact, I've never had a job work for me either. I've always had to put forth the efforts and WORK the opportunity, or work FOR the job.

Unfortunately there's a perception that Network Marketing is an easy way to get fast riches. Many people have been told that "you can get rich without doing anything". Well, that's completely wrong and its part of that whole "something for nothing" lazy attitude that has ruined a lot of people.

I think most people would love to be able to have an easy way of earning a living so they can spend more time with their families, friends, or hobbies. The fact is - Network Marketing DOES provide plenty of opportunities to earn a substantial income, but... it does require some effort!

While Network Marketing is a great way to make a huge income, you just can’t sign up and expect the money to drop from the sky. Get that in your mind right now, and you'll avoid major disappointment later.

Major Effort, Major Income

The best part is... your earnings are directly reflective of the effort you put forth! Unlike most jobs where a salary is usually "capped" and paid regardless of how hard you work, Network Marketing will reward you handsomely if you invest some effort in it. In fact, I’ve personally found that I can put half the work into a good Network Marketing Opportunity, and reap much greater financial rewards than working a 9 to 5 job.

Think about this...

If you work a JOB for 40 years, you can get a nice recliner when you retire - and then get a tiny retirement check every month. With Network Marketing, you can work hard for FAR LESS TIME and also earn a nice residual monthly check... AND ENJOY IT while you are still young!

As a personal example…I worked for 20 years with an organization to reach a certain annual salary level. When I started Network Marketing (working part time), in less 13 months time, I was already making over DOUBLE my full-time salary. Needless to say, I quit my job and started working for myself!

And another thing is...

With Network Marketing you also get to earn an income on the efforts of others. Most jobs certainly don't allow that to happen, so it's definitely a bonus with Network Marketing.

Here are some key POINTS:

1. Understand that you will have to put forth an effort with this opportunity - doing so, will bring HUGE rewards. I built a very large 5-figure monthly part-time income because I put in CONSISTENT efforts early on. Every day, I did something to build my business - and it paid off in a MAJOR way. This is a business opportunity, not a money game.

2. Establish a Mindset for Success and be DETERMINED to reach it. I built my first downline of 30,000+ starting with ONE person. Several times, I had the opportunity to quit… but KNEW that if I was consistent and PERSISTENT, I would succeed. A high percentage of people will quit when they are faced with a couple obstacles. We grow when we’re uncomfortable - not when things are easy. If you want to grow (a big income), be prepared to go over obstacles; jagged rocks, tall mountains, and lonely forests.

3. Help the people in your group to succeed. If you work with them to succeed, you will be multiplying your earning potential. Their success builds your success. If you learn how to duplicate your efforts, and then teach your people how to do the same... you will see how quickly your business will grow. Duplication and leverage are major components to building a wildly successful Network Marketing income.

One other thing ... here is a RULE that you need to know, and pass on to your group...

"The people you recruit will likely do EXACTLY as you do."

If you give out product as a sample, they will give out product as samples. If you get on autoship immediately, they will also get on autoship.

The seeds that are in you (whether good or bad) will be passed on and will grow throughout your group…Seeds of ABUNDANCE, as well as seeds of discouragement, and un-belief. Make sure you are planting a good crop!

Leverage your time and the efforts of others, and you will reap a huge financial reward!

How to lower your life insurance premiums

In the world today when human health and life are extremely precarious, getting a health insurance becomes mandatory for every individual. Health insurance can be of immense benefit in the hours of need. It brings requisite money at your doorstep when you are impotent to earn and meet your medical and other expenses. On the same hand it is also a great help to the person’s family.

But despite of being aware of the value of an individual’s life on and also of the countless advantages fetched by a health insurance policy, people hesitate in taking it. According to surveys the primary reason behind it is the cost of the policy. However, if a person is little vigilant he can always gain the pleasure of a health insurance policy at affordable rates.

The cost of a health insurance policy varies greatly with the region in which an individual is located. All the health insurance plans are not available everywhere. For instance citizens of places like Washington State and Kentucky do not have many options to explore. People residing in the rural areas such as Texas and the like do not get to save enough on HMO policies due to lack of people that make it economical. Similarly some states do not have the option for an association health plan. However these things should not obstruct you from buying a health insurance policy. For there are quite a few ways in which you can acquire a reasonably priced life insurance policy.

• In order to have an affordable policy, the foremost thing to be done is to opt for a health insurance broker who is well acquainted with the insurance market and business. Internet is the perfect means to hunt for an agent. A broker will not just present different market rates to you but will also negotiate with the company for the rates. Moreover he will also tell you what are the different ways in which you can lower your premiums like by joining a group etc.

• Another good way to procure an affordable policy is to obtain online quotes. There are quite a few sites that will assist you with the requisite details after you give them some general information about yourself.

• You should also visit to your state insurance department’s website. Here you will see the complete list of companies that sell individual coverage as well as those that sell without brokers in your state.

• You can also look up the state’s insurance pool. At many places such as Texas, those individuals who do not get coverage anywhere else are covered under the high-risk pool.

• For those who have debilitating physical conditions, COBRA legislation is good option.

• You can also form your own small group. For small groups the employer group policies are quite often subject to different rules. These are offered at relatively low prices and turn out to be more spirited.

• Finally you can even become a part of an association or group that has group coverage.

How to find kitchen remodeling ideas online

Are you a homeowner who wishes that there were something different about your kitchen? Although most homeowners love their homes, including their kitchens, it is relatively easy to get bored of something, especially a room that you visit multiple times a day.

If you are looking for a change, particularly with your kitchen, you may want to think about remodeling your kitchen. A kitchen remodeling project may be just what you and your kitchen needs.

Kitchen remodeling; sounds fun doesn’t it? If the idea of remodeling your kitchen sounds exciting, there is a chance that you may want to get started right away. Of course, you can start remodeling your kitchen whenever you want, but first you must develop a plan. That plan should not only include what particular parts of your kitchen you would like changed, but also how you want them changed.

For instance, if you are making the decision to replace your old kitchen cabinets and countertops with new ones, you need to choose a new set. In fact, you must choose a new set before you start your project; otherwise, you could be left with a mess. The only problem is that many homeowners, just like you, have a difficult time determining exactly what they want.

If you have decided that you would like to have your kitchen remodeled, but you don’t exactly know to the full extent how yet, you may want to seek assistance. If you are looking for professional assistance, you may want to think about acquiring the services of a professional decorator. Professional decorators are individuals who have not only had training, but they also have experience in the art of decorating.

A professional decorator could not only advise you to replace your kitchen floor, but they could also offer you suggestions on what your flooring replacement should be. The only problem with this is that professional decorators charge money for their services; therefore, if you are looking to remodel your kitchen on a budget, you may find hiring the services of a professional decorator difficult or even impossible; however, there is an alternative.

If you are looking for kitchen remodeling ideas, such as the latest trends in kitchen countertops and so on, you are advised to use the internet. Perhaps, what is best about the internet is that it is free and the information is about the same as the information that a professional decorator would have provided with you. In addition to being free, the internet is quick and easy to use. This means that you don’t have to wait until you get paid or wait until an appointment becomes available; you could easily familiarize yourself with the latest trends is kitchen remodeling, whenever you want.

Perhaps, the best way to use the internet is to perform a standard internet search. The internet search used should depend on what you are looking for. For instance, if you are looking for kitchen countertop ideas, performing a search with the words kitchen countertops may be best. You may be diverted to a website that offers free kitchen decorating or remodeling ideas, but you will likely be directed to an online website that sells kitchen countertops.

These types of online websites are most commonly the websites of online home improvement stores. Professional home improvement stores will not just show you their products, but they will likely have online picture displays, just like the displays that you can find in most stores. These picture displays may help to give you remodeling ideas, such as which kitchen countertops would look good in your kitchen and which ones would not.

If you do not want to shop or examine kitchen remodeling products and designs ideas online, you could also visit one or more of your local home improvement stores. Most large home improvement stores sell the products, supplies, and materials that are the most popular; therefore, even if you are looking to have a trendy kitchen, you could get remodeling and decorating ideas by visiting your local home improvement store, but as previously mentioned, the internet is a lot easier and a lot quicker way.

Simple steps for safe asbestos bag disposal

Asbestos is a mineral used in the construction and manufacturing sectors owing to its heat-resisting properties. Researches have proved that prolonged exposure to Asbestos can cause many lung related diseases including mesothelioma cancer. The need for safe asbestos bag disposal methods is crucial to reduce the exposure and resulting effects.

The government had made safe asbestos bag disposal a mandatory requirement. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued guidelines for the effective disposal of asbestos bags from construction or renovation sites. To determine if the material you are using contains asbestos, you may send a sample of the material to the International Asbestos Testing Laboratories. Once you are sure that the material contains asbestos, contact your state department to find out the necessary regulations regarding its disposal.

Procedure for safe asbestos bag disposal

1. Asbestos is fibrous in nature and these fibers easily float in the air. In order to make the fibers settle down, it is necessary to dampen them with treated water.

2. Purchase Asbestos Bags from the prescribed authorities .

3. Take two bags and place the damp material inside. You may also use a cardboard box inside the bags for easier handling.

4. Make sure that the bags are light enough to lift easily.

5. Seal the bags individually with duct tape.

6. Once the asbestos bags are ready for disposal, you need to fill in two forms –

a. The Origin and Disposal Form

b. The Asbestos Certificate of Acceptance.

7. Give these forms to the Weigh Master on the day of disposal.

8. You may deposit these bags at the Sanitary Landfill site in Woodbine only.

Note: Find out the time of acceptance of asbestos bags in advance. You may use your own vehicle or even rent a pick – up truck to transport the material.

Due to the harmful effects of asbestos exposure, it is essential that the entire community follow the rules laid down by the government for its safe disposal. Any efforts to evade the law would be injurious to your and other’s health.

Bullying and its effects

There was a recent incident in a school in Nova Scotia, Canada that called the public’s attention. This incident involved two high school seniors who arranged for them and dozens of their classmates to wear pink shirts to show support for another student who got bullied for wearing pink. Their actions have certainly brought light to the problems of a lot of students worldwide – bullying.

Bullying

Bullying is a form of harassment perpetrated by an abuser of more physical and/or social power and dominance than the victim. Bullying is done with clear intentions of causing harm to the target through verbal harassment, physical assault, emotional blackmail, or other more subtle methods of coercion such as manipulation.

Bullying exists in any setting where social interaction is present. This includes schools, workplaces, inside the home, and around the neighbourhood. This may even between different social groups, social classes and even between countries. Like any kind of abusive behavior, bullying is a repetitive act done to gain power or control over another person.

Generally, bullying is classified into 2 types:

· Direct bullying. This includes physical aggression in the form of shoving and poking, throwing things, slapping, choking, punching and kicking, and beating.

· Indirect bullying. This is also called social aggression. This forces victims to go into social isolation. This is usually done by spreading gossip about the victim, refusing to socialize with the victim, name calling, mocking the victim, forcing other people to not socialize with the victim as well, and manipulation.

Why do bullies act the way they do? Some studies have shown that some bullies do it to be thought of as popular or tough, or to get attention. Bullies may also do it out of jealousy or may simply be acting out because they themselves were bullied. Some bullies are noted to have come from abusive families and neighbourhoods.

After-effects of bullying

Constantly being submitted to bullying may cause a person to develop inferiority complex. Inferiority complex, as the terminology implies, is a feeling of being inferior to others in one way or another. Always being mocked or negatively criticized by bullies may force a person to start believing the lies and second-guess themselves. Victims may also be more prone to developing stress related mental conditions such as anxiety and depression from frequently being bullied.

How does one cope with bullying?

Victims should always keep in mind that they’re not the problem, the bullies are. Victims should not start second-guessing themselves just because of the comments being thrown at them by bullies. Everybody has a right to safety and security. If you’re different in any way, don’t be ashamed of it and stand strong. It’s not your fault you’re unique. Always go out in a group with your friends, bullies won’t be able to single you out if you’re in a group. There’s always power in numbers. You can always just ignore the bully, tell them to stop pestering you, and walk away. If these tips don’t work, tell someone you trust.

Thinking back on how the two senior students had acted upon seeing a co-student get bullied, it’s refreshing to know that even in the age where violence prevails, there are still people willing to help and stand up for what’s right. Bullying has been a long-time concern for schools and parents now, and its nice to hear of people taking a stand for those who are being bullied.

Las vegas how to have non gambling related fun

Last month, my wife, Anne Doe, took me to Las Vegas because she had to go for a business convention. Needless to say, she writes for an guide to casinos and I hate gambling. But then, she likes it and this supports us too, so I went along without any hassle. At first I was depressed, but then as I asked around and looked around, I ended up having more fun in Las Vegas than I would have thought. And no. I did not enter a single casino while I was there.

Entertainment:

One of the greatest things about Las Vegas, Reno and Atlantic City (but especially Las Vegas) is the number of shows that are available. You can get to watch top class comedians like Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, Ray Romano, Tim Allen and even the likes of Bill Cosby and Chris Rock. If you are into music you can watch female singers like Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Beyonc?, male performers like Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Snoopy Dog and bands like Oasis and Bon Jovi. I could go on and on but the list is endless. If you are into magic you can watch magicians like David Copperfield do their thing meters from you. Whatever you like, you can find it here from Western music to oldies to Jazz, Rock, Heavy Mettle to Trance. All you have to do is look at the itenary offered during your visit.

Food:

Chinese to Japanese to Korean to Jewish and even Vegetarian and proper meat eating establishments await your every delight in Vegas. Do not opt for the cheap and oily fried dishes served for free while you play. Stop a while and take in the delightful scenery and smells of East Asian or European dishes. What is wondrous is that you get to see man's ability to mix. A real melting pot if I may say so myself.

But is that all what casino cities like Las Vegas are about? Do you have to remain in the city to really and truly enjoy your stay?

No.

Here are some of the better attractions you must see on your visit to Vegas:

Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon:

Book yourself a seat on any of the many sightseeing tours available and go and watch the architectural marvel that is Hoover Dam built over the Grand canyon which is also a grand sight to see by itself. Black Canyon is another must see as is Lake Mead which is so beautiful just because it is a body of water all surrounded by desert-like nature.

Colorado River:

While looking at the Dam and Canyon is from above, to see the true beauty of the river, you have to go down. The Colorado river is excellent for river-rafting and water sports, but you do not have to take part if it is not your thing. Instead just sit back and enjoy another of nature's marvels.

Bonnie Springs:

Who can not resist going to one of the old towns like those in the Western gun slinging movies? Your destination needs to be Old Nevada. There you can delight in an old western town right in the middle of Red Rock Canyon. They host western shootouts too so come prepared, partner!

Conclusion:

I could go on and on about other attractions like the theme park in Circus Circus, the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary, the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve and Mt. Charleston but I think you get the picture. In Las Vegas and hate gambling? Do not despair. Just go out and have some clean un-gambling fun.

Survey finds women unsure about their options

If you had to describe bio-identical hormone therapy, which words would you choose? Individually designed hormone therapy? A non-natural means of menopause relief? Or substances that are structurally identical to the naturally occurring substances in the human body?

If you're not sure which is correct, you have plenty of company. According to a recent survey, conducted by MenopauseRx. com, nearly 40 percent of women misidentified bio-identical hormone therapy as a non-natural means of menopause relief.

Bio-identical therapy is actually a more natural option for relief. Most estrogens and progesterone come from soy (estrogen) or yams (progesterone). Once the hormones are extracted from a plant source, they are processed to be used by a woman's body.

While there is not one "best" hormone therapy option for all women, the reality is that women are much more responsive to the types of hormones normally found in the body.

These include bio-identical hormones such as estradiol (the primary estrogen produced by the ovary) and micronized progesterone. Women respond to these bio-identical prescription products because they are so similar to what the body makes naturally after the midlife change.

Bio-identical hormone therapy is available through FDA-approved prescription products such as gels, lotions, patches and pills, as well as non-FDA-approved compounded products. Some pharmacies offer to custom-compound bio-identical hormone therapies for a woman's individual menopause symptoms but the safety and effectiveness of these formulations cannot be assured. Commercially available estradiol and progesterone products have undergone rigorous FDA monitoring. When prescribed by a health care professional, these medications are usually covered by insurance companies.

While the use of hormone therapy is currently the subject of debate, it remains the gold standard for relief of troublesome menopause symptoms. The North American Menopause Society recommends using the lowest dose of hormone for the shortest time to relieve symptoms. Research indicates that FDA-approved and prescribed bio-identical hormones can be an effective way to alleviate the symptoms of menopause.

In choosing a hormone therapy, experts recommend a yearly review with a health care professional. Most women find that over time the symptoms diminish or the reasons to use hormone therapy change. As that happens it may be beneficial to discontinue the use of hormones.

Remote-controlled planes - a hobby on the rise

Remote planes are one of the fastest-growing hobbies around, not to mention one of the most fun. You can buy a kit (or even cut wood yourself), build a plane, and then use your remote control to fly your creation around in the park. In recent years their popularity has even begun to catch up to remote-controlled cars: cars might be fun, sure, but do they fly? No!

So how do remote-controlled planes work? Basically, the controller you hold sends radio waves through the air to the plane, telling it what to do. The receivers on the plane then carry out your actions to move the wings and other parts, just like the controls on a real plane send signals to mechanically move the parts – after all, it would be almost impossible for a pilot to move a plane without mechanical assistance.

Remote-controlled planes have gained popularity in recent years as their technology has advanced in leaps and bounds. A decade ago, for example, people were still using fuels like petrol to make their planes go, but today technology has moved to the point where model planes can fly using only electricity.

If you want to fly a remote plane yourself, the best way to do it is to buy a kit – they don’t cost that much. Generally, you will get a collection of parts made out of balsa wood (used because it is so light), together with instructions for building the plane. However, the kit will not include all the tools you need, which can include saws (if the wood hasn’t already been cut) and various kinds of glue.

Unfortunately, building planes this way can be very difficult and time-consuming, even when you buy a kit that is supposed to be easy to build. Because what you’re making is basically a scale model of a plane that has to work in the exact same way, it doesn’t take much for it not to fly at all. Errors that wouldn’t matter when building most other DIY projects can cause your plane to crash on its first flight, destroying hours of work.

While you could just go out and buy a ‘ready to fly’ plane, many people believe that takes a lot of the fun out of remote-controlled planes as a hobby. If you’re careful when you build your plane and follow the instructions to the letter, it should work just fine. Good luck!

However you do it, enjoy your shed!

Vote for mike gravel in 2008

Former Alaskan Senator Mike Gravel is running for President in 2008. If you are a progressive person who is looking for real change in 2008 then I believe that you must look past the front runners such as Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and Barack Obama and look towards Mike Gravel.

While Clinton, Edwards, and Obama will all make much better presidents than George W. Bush (or John McCain or Rudy Giuliani for that matter) they will also offer "politics as usual" and they are unlikely to make any major changes when it comes to our unjust tax system or our unjust drug laws. They are also unlikely to completely remove all soldiers from Iraq. This is where Mike Gravel differs greatly.

Mike Gravel wants to completely change our tax system. Our current tax system involves so many loopholes (fought for by lobbyists) that people with the right know how can easily game the system and thus the very rich often pay a much lower percentage of taxes than they are supposed to. If you look into the history of the income tax then you will see that it has been corrupt from the beginning. It is time to do away with the income tax and the IRS altogether. Mike Gravel wants to replace the income tax with a national sales tax. This system of taxation will be much more simple without any loopholes so it cannot be gamed by anyone. Millions of dollars will be saved by this simplified tax code. Sound impossible? It's not. Things change if we really want them to. The income tax has not been around forever. There was no income tax for the first 127 years of this country's life. Gravel estimates that we can replace our current tax system with the new Fair Tax in less than one year.

Mike Gravel wants to decriminalize drugs and end "The War on Drugs." Prohibition of alcohol didn't work in the 1920s and prohibition of drugs does not work now. In what is supposed to be a free society there should be no law against what one puts into their own body. It is unjust. Furthermore it's a waste of government time and money. The money wasted on the "War on Drugs" could be spent on education and health care.

Mike Gravel was against the Iraq war from the start. Gravel came out against the Iraq war in 2002 and stated then what everyone knows now. George W Bush was lying about WMD. This a man who can see through the lies. This is a man that can tell the truth. This is a man who as president would never take our country into a war unless it was absolutely necessary. How many innocent people must die? Mike Gravel has a plan to end the Iraq war immediately. And unlike others who say they will end the war, Gravel wants to remove all of our soldiers from Iraq. We should not have a permanent residency in Iraq.

It's time for a real change. It is time for Mike Gravel.

Benefits of stretching

The body is flexible. It is supposed to be flexible. You must be able to bend and reach that something you dropped on the floor. You must be able to zip the back of your favorite dress on your own. You must be able to reach that book you need to read at the top shelf.

These are simple activities. Nothing grand about them, you merely stretched out a bit. However, if there are difficulties in doing such simple motions, then you have to stretch your limits. You already need a stretching program.

What Is Stretching?

Stretching is simply the act of extending to full length the body or simply a part of it. This activity involves straightening or stretching the structure or the limbs.

How Does One Do the Stretching?

Stretching is fairly easy. As mentioned in the introduction, it is involved in the normal activities. It can be done by any people, regardless of age.

However the extent of stretching and flexing differs. The muscles tighten as a person ages. The range of joint movements can be minimized. This can very well obstruct an on-the-go lifestyle. That is why as the person grows older, bending or flexing becomes more limited. This is why stretching regularly, as part of a routine is very important.

Simple stretches can be done everyday. It can be incorporated in the lifestyle and the daily activities. It does not require much of your time.

Stretching exercises can also be done while training. Actually, stretching is an essential part of any training or sport. It must be done first before anything else. Stretching the body and the limbs is a good preparation for a more rigorous activity.

Most athletes would do the sit and reach, wherein they position on the floor, extend their legs and reach the tip of their foot with the tip of their hand. Actually, most trainers actually require their athletes to really do the stretching before playing.

There is actually an ideal length of time in stretching. It is best to do it in 10 minutes. This will give the body enough opportunity to move and flex the muscles, thus preparing it for more complicated and strenuous movements.

Experts however would frown upon going way beyond 10 minutes. Stretching the exercise to 30 minutes or more will already wear out the body. This will not be favorable if one is preparing for a game.

What Are the Benefits of Stretching?

1. Increase the Range of Movement

As one constantly do the stretching exercises, the length of the muscles and the tendons are also increased. This will help in increasing the range of your movement. Thus, the limbs and joints will be able to move, way before an injury can take place. You are definitely physically fit.

2. Increased Ability to Perform Skills

When you have a wide range of movement, the more you will be able to do more things. For example, you can jump high without feeling any pain when you land back on the floor. This will also help you start a new sport or improve more if you are in one. Stretching in this aspect also allows you to have a more active lifestyle.

3. Injury Prevention

One can prevent injury to joints, tendons and muscles with stretching. When the muscles and tendons are well-flexed, they are considered in good working order. This will help in a faster recovery and decreased soreness. The muscles of the body will be able to take more exhausting and rigorous movements with less probability of being injured.

4. Reduce Muscle Tension

If the muscles are given their regular exercises and stretching, it is less likely that they will contract. This will definitely relieve you of any muscle pain or problems.

5. Enhance Energy

Being able to move more will also give you more energy. Stretching will also help enhance your awareness, like knowing that you have a body that is capable of doing many things. As such, you are going to be more driven to move rather than sulk in the corner.

6. Reduces Cholesterol

Research also shows that doing prolonged stretching exercises, like yoga, will help reduce the cholesterol in the body. This of course must be done with a healthy diet at hand. This could prevent and even reverse the hardening of the arteries, allowing you to avoid coronary diseases.

Incorporate stretching in your everyday lifestyle. It has benefits you can not say no to. It also does not require much. It can be your usual activities, bending and flexing every now and then. After all, your fitness is everything so do what it takes to keep the body healthy.

Four unsung technologies that have changed our world

We’ve heard them all before—the wheel, the car, the rocket ship, the airplane, the atomic bomb, the Internet. There are a few technologies that have obviously changed our world—some for the better, some for the worse. But in all the hubbub over these obviously world-changing inventions, some equally important technologies have been forgotten. Below are some inventions that have had an undeniable impact on our world—technologies that you wouldn’t at first suspect.

The stirrup. That’s right, that little metal hoop that hangs off a saddle. The partnership of horse and human is undeniably important in the development of warfare—a horse can run approximately three times faster than a person. But the stirrup gave added stability. It gives riders the support that makes it possible to ride all day—no conquering force could travel as far and as quickly as they needed to without it. It also gives an undeniable advantage in battle: maneuverability. A warrior with stirrups can stand, lean from side to side, swing an axe, shoot a bow, or throw a spear without danger of falling off. Chances are, without the stirrup, many battles that have shaped the political landscape and history of our world would have gone differently.

The battery. Everyone thinks the invention of electricity was extremely important—and it was. But the battery gives us that electricity in a portable form, making it possible for us to have flashlights, mobile phones, cars, mp3 players, pacemakers—anything that relies on electric power and that isn’t practical to plug into the wall. Batteries have made devices both lifesaving and mundane possible, and our world wouldn’t look the same without them.

Traffic sensors. Most people would cite cars as an important invention. But traffic sensors are an invention that makes car travel possible—especially in crowded cities. In bucolic towns, sensors are a convenience—they sense when your car is waiting at a light, and if there is no car at the opposing light, it will change early and let you go through. But in a big city with millions of intersections to coordinate, traffic sensors play a crucial role in keeping lights properly timed and congestion to a minimum. Traffic would be much more complicated to manage without traffic sensors.

Cement. Without it, we would have no skyscrapers or highways. We would also have no Egyptian Pyramids or Appian Way. Cement has played an incredibly important role throughout the history of civilization, as a durable building material that holds up under extreme stress and seriously long-term erosive forces. It’s strong yet flexible enough to support a skyscraper, durable enough to hold up under millions of cars and trucks per day on our nation’s busiest highways, and long-lasting enough to have held the Great Pyramid together for over four thousand years.

These inventions are all undeniably crucial—although they wouldn’t be at the top of the list for best-known important technologies. So next time you drop your keys at night, read about the fall of Rome, sit in traffic at an intersection, or take to the highway, think about where we’d be without the battery, the stirrup, the traffic sensor, and cement. We’re lucky these technologies came along.

How to choose your online poker room

I must emphasize that many factors discriminate between different online poker rooms as well as decide where you would like to open an online poker account. In my opinion, you need to ask yourself some basic questions on the subject of your poker preferences. Try to visualize the following scenario:

Am I a professional poker player or I would rather compete against beginners?

What limits and what types of games am I looking for?

What types of online tournaments imperative to me?

What is my budget?

Where can I find reliability and steadiness in terms of financial transaction?

Although these questions seem intimidating, once you have answered them, your choices will narrow down significantly. If this thinking exercise is not enough for you and some extra feedback will alleviate your doubts, I suggest further investigation or you can visit various online portals such as gambling-portal. com and choose from the page with online reviews on it.

First, ask for recommendations from your colleagues or friends. Sometimes, online poker rooms offer referential bonuses aside from registration benefits; therefore, this can begin your online poker experience in a very pleasant way. Other than that, reliable poker rooms carry their name in front of them and most importantly maintain their best reputation between the contestants. Let face it, no individual in his clear mind will invest his money into small, suspicious and untrustworthy poker room.

Second, one of the best ways to find your spot under the online sun is simply to undergo the process of gaming budget evaluation. Take a good look into your pocket and determine your financial plan in advance. For instance, if you plan to invest a hundred dollars into the pot, you will not have the potential to lose more than that. Even if you win some cash, appropriate money management will save the trouble of big loses.

Third, look at the variety of games poker rooms have to offer. Usually the site places the gaming options in front of you before the download procedure takes place. Even if you are familiar with the full list of games from browsing the poker room, I suggest supplementary acquaintance through online poker rooms reviews, which you can find in the internet. This is how you prevent unpleasant accidents and enjoy quality games of your choice.

Last but not the least be sure the online poker site has a good support department. The support department is responsible for handling players' issues when they cannot find them online or in the chat room. Good customer support team communicates quick solutions within less than half an hour via email or phone, but if a certain online facility encompasses a live chat, the player benefits proper solution simultaneously with the game course. Certainly, it is important to make sure that the software of your favorite online resort is legal and registered by the appropriate entities.

In general, it really comes down to personal flavor. Maybe you will like the software, or the interface of a particular online room, but you will hate the gaming options. In any case, conduct inclusive research before engaging into the online world of poker game.

Are you ready for a home business

You need to ask yourself some serious questions before you venture into the home business arena. Although owning your own business at home may be one of your dreams, you first need to determine is you're ready to operate one. You need to look at a business at home the same way you would look at any other business you'd be working. It must be something you are willing to do with loyalty, devotion, and zeal.

You must have a positive attitude in order to operate you own home business. You cannot take the attitude that you can work whenever it suits you. You need to be available when your customers need you. A home business can't be treated like a hobby. You can't simply devote the hours to it that you choose. There may be some businesses where that's possible. However, if you have a product-based or service-oriented business where you deal directly with customers (i. e., accountant, hairdresser, cleaning service, builder/contractor), you will find it difficult to set your own hours. You need to be open for business and available when it is convenient for your customers. If you have more of a free-lance type of business (i. e., writer, editor, copywriter, etc.), you may be able to set your own hours as long as you meet the deadline for the project.

You need to have both the time and desire to work at home. Some people must be in an environment where they know they have to work certain hours and complete a certain amount of work within a certain time frame. They are not goal-oriented enough to work at home. A business at home probably isn't going to work for you if you are that kind of person. No one will be there to tell you that you must work certain hours or give you work and expect you to have it finished by day's end. A business at home won't work for you if you are unable to set goals and work toward them each day.

Not having to report to a traditional workplace every day can be very appealing. This is true especially during winter months when the roads are bad because of the weather, or during the summer when it would be nice to be outside. It takes a special person to work a business from home. You need to be able to prioritize projects so that work, family, and leisure activities all take their proper places.

Take some time to learn how to devote the time needed for a home business. You will be doing yourself and your customers a disservice if you aren't goal-oriented enough to work a business at home. If you aren't ready to operate a home business, it doesn't mean that you never will. When you're ready to commit to working at home, then you'll be ready.

Newcastle s one and only

Newcastle is thought to be one of the first places in Britain to brew beer, so it’s appropriate that one of its ales has become something of an institution. Indeed, Newcastle Brown Ale has become as synonymous with the city as Guinness has with Dublin, and when we think of Newcastle, a bottle of this special brew is one of the first things to come to mind.

Newcastle Brown Ale is a dark brown ale, which has been brewed in the city since 1927 by Newcastle Breweries. Although the company closed their Tyne brewery in 2005, they ensured that production remained relatively local by moving to nearby Dunston, in Gateshead.

Colonel J. Porter created Newcastle Brown Ale in 1925, although he continued to fine-tune the recipe for a further three years. By 1928, his experimentations had given his beer the distinctive flavour that we know today and, as a result, the ale swept the board at the 1928 International Brewery Awards. Newcastle Brown Ale picked up a number of prestigious gold medals at this festival and images of these awards still adorn the beer’s distinctive label today.

In 1928, a year after the beer’s launch, its label got another important addition. The infamous blue star was added, with five points to represent the five founding breweries in Newcastle. The slogan ‘The One and Only’ was added in the 1980s, as an affectionate nod to a vintage advert for the ale. There have also been a number of other changes to the label over the years; in 2000, the 'Ale' was dropped from its name and the beverage was referred to as merely 'Newcastle Brown' in a bid to attract younger drinkers. However, the 'Ale' was rightfully reinstated in 2004, when it was discovered that the change of name had no positive impact on sales. In 2006, a special edition Newcastle Brown Ale label was produced in the city's football stripes to commemorate the retirement of Newcastle United’s Alan Shearer. Similarly, the ale was temporarily renamed 'Maximo Brown Ale' in 2007 to honour Maximo Park, a Newcastle-based Indie band.

Although it was largely unavailable in the Midlands and South East until the late 1980s, a successful advertising campaign has since transformed it into one of the country's best-selling bottled ales. The success of ‘Newkie Brown’ certainly doesn't stop there; it is now available in bottles and occasionally on draught throughout the US and it can also be purchased in a variety of British pubs in Australia and New Zealand. The question is, what’s next for Newcastle’s favourite tipple? As more and more countries adopt it as their 'one and only,' it certainly looks set to go from strength to strength.

Female hair loss treatments and why hair loss is different on venus

Female hair loss treatments often differ to men's, for a number of reasons. The main prescription hair loss treatment for men, the drug propecia, is generally not as effective in women, although an Italian study seemed to show some promise with it.

The study followed the experience of 37 women who were given 2.5 mg of propecia a day, as well as the contraceptive pill. As propecia can cause deformities in the development of a male fetus' sex organs, propecia cannot be given to women who have a chance of conceiving, or who are pregnant.

Results were measured by taking photos of the women's heads, and using a technique called computerized light videodermoscopy to measure the density of hairs. Women tend to have thinning hair when they suffer hair loss, and don't often go completely bald.

After 12 months of treatment, 23 women (62%) had improvements in their hair thickness. Those women who had most hair loss down the middle of the top of the head, showed the most improvement. Only one woman was found to have worse hair loss.

But more studies on propecia as a female hair loss treatment need to be conducted before it is given the green light as a treatment option. Not only is there the issue of fetal damage, making it a risky drug for women, but this study is not conclusive as evidence that it will actually work for all, or most, women.

Generally, women are given topical treatments like minoxidil to encourage hair growth. Minoxidil has drawbacks in that it has to be applied to the scalp twice a day, and some women are allergic to it. Unfortunately, scientists have not come up with a hair loss medication that will definitely work for women.

Another reason female hair loss treatments differ to men's is that the causes of female hair loss often vary. Hair loss in women is often associated with hormonal changes like menopause, discontinuing birth control pills, and after pregnancy. There is a 3 month delay before signs of hair loss will appear, so if you're noticing hair loss now, it was probably triggered 3 months ago. And it can take another 3 months before new growth starts to show.

Another factor in female hair loss is excessive dieting or sudden weight loss. Hair requires nutrients to grow just as any other part of the body does, What we eat can not only affect how shiny and healthy our hair appears, but also hair loss. Whilst men can suffer hair loss from similar weight loss, women tend to be more involved with extreme diets than men.

Female hair loss can also be an indicator of a medical condition, such as an underactive thyroid gland, diabetes, anemia, and PCOS. It's a good idea to get these possible issued ruled out by a doctor first. If they are at the root of the hair loss problem, no amount of hair loss medications or topical treatments or hair vitamins is going to stop hair loss until that is treated.

Hair loss that is caused by physical or emotional stress generally resolves itself when the stressor is dealt with, without any female hair loss treatment. But because of the hair's growth cycles, it can take 6 months before any improvement is noticed.

Advantages of leasing a vehicle

There are a number of reasons to consider leasing a vehicle and, of course, a number of reasons to consider buying a vehicle. These reasons are very different from one another because, naturally, buying a car is significantly different from leasing a vehicle. For the time being, the attention will be focused on the advantages of leasing a vehicle as it stacks up versus the other options of automobile purchasing and ownership.

Some of the potential advantages to leasing a vehicle include:

Lower Monthly Payments

Leasing is broken up into payments of the car or truck that you are actually using. Your monthly payments are significantly lower, usually around 30 to 60 percent lower, than standard loan payments on a vehicle purchase would be. Length terms are also put on leases, which makes for more access to the vehicle for relatively the same amount of money. On top of that, you have the ability to drive a different car every two or three years, depending on your overall lease agreement.

Less Headaches Related to Maintenance

One of the biggest headaches when it comes to car ownership is the repair bills incurred. With leasing an automobile, however, the terms of the lease typically match up with any manufacturing warranty coverage. This is an easy way out of major vehicle repairs, as the lease runs out right at the moment engine parts run out of warranty coverage and it becomes the manufacturer’s problem, not the driver’s.

Less Cash Upfront

A lot of lease agreements these days ask for very little cash upfront to secure the lease. This makes getting into a new car incredibly affordable and frees up valuable cash for other purposes than securing a vehicle. Lease agreements may suggest that you make a down payment or trade in your own vehicle. This will result in the lowering of your overall monthly payment amount, which is always good news for leasers.

Lower Taxes

In most locations, you don’t have to pay the full sales tax on the vehicle in a lease agreement because you aren’t paying for the whole value of the car. You would only face taxation on the portion of the vehicle you use during your lease or the amount of cash you paid during the terms of your lease. The tax is spread out into easy payments, therefore, and is paid alongside the monthly lease payments instead of being paid all at once. This is how most agreements work, but not all. Check with your lease agreement for more information on taxation.

Less Hassle

Instead of fiddling around trying to sell your old used car, you simply bring it back at the end of your lease agreement and pick up a new lease model. This takes the headaches and hassles away from selling your own automobile and, instead, puts it in the hands of the experts.

Gap Coverage

A final note about leases pertains to gap coverage on insurance policies. Most leases automatically include gap coverage in case the vehicle is stolen or wrecked in an accident because it leaves the manufacturer and leaser in the clear. This prevents the leaser from owing more than the vehicle is worth. In the case of most vehicle loans, this coverage is not included and car owners are on the hook in the event of accidents or theft in most cases.

The truth about optimization - 6 common seo myths debunked

Gaining good positioning with the search engines is one channel for increasing your online business — but it’s not an end in itself. Your ultimate goal isn’t higher traffic, but higher sales, and thereby, profits. Will Reynolds of SEO consulting firm ThinkSeer. com, sheds some light on common misconceptions regarding search engine optimization:

Myth Number One: I have to submit my site to the engines to get ranked.

Truth: The search engines have advanced to the point that they’ll find you on their own. You’re wasting money by paying a service to submit your name to the engines.

Myth Number Two: I need to optimize for ALL the engines.

Truth: There are only three search engines that matter: Google, Yahoo!, and MSN — in that order. Google is by far the most important in terms of driving traffic. Nearly every other search engine feeds off one of these three, so if you do well in any of them, you’ll show up in the other engines as well.

Myth Number Three: If I use pay-per-click ads, I don’t have to worry about natural rankings.

Truth: Up to seventy-five percent of users don’t even consider clicking paid ads, so if you rely solely on pay-per-click for your business, you’re losing out on a huge section of the market.

Myth Number Four: My goal should be to rank well for all related keywords.

Truth: Certain words and phrases produce better results than others. You need to look at your keyword ROI and conversion rates, not just your rankings. Says Reynolds, “I’ve seen sites rank highly for terms that result in no conversions. That ranking might be getting you some exposure, but it’s not getting you sales.” Analyze your keyword campaigns so you can see what your expenditures are doing for your bottom line.

Myth Number Five: My web design doesn’t affect my positioning.

Truth: Your web architecture has a tremendous impact on the search engines’ ability to read your site’s content and, therefore, on your rankings. For instance, Google assigns the most importance to your homepage. If you have a flash intro, the search engines can’t read it — they see a blank page. If there’s no Skip Intro button that allows the search engines to get past that, the rest of your site’s content may not even get indexed. Bringing in a consultant to work with your web developer may help you avoid navigation and structural pitfalls that make your web site difficult for the engines to read.

Myth Number Six: Increasing my traffic will automatically increase my conversions.

Truth: Your web site must be user friendly as well as search engine friendly. Advises Reynolds, “Don’t butcher your site for the engines, in terms of the verbiage or text size. It won’t read well or connect with your customers. If you don't look credible, people aren’t going to feel comfortable purchasing on your site or giving you their information online.” You may rise in rankings, but it will cost you in conversions.

Increasing your web site’s visitors through search engine optimization is important for your E-Biz — and it’s equally important to make sure your site’s structure, design, and navigation are conducive to converting those visitors when they land.

What to look for in motorcycle boots

Buying a good pair of motorcycle boots can be an exercise in patience unless you know what to look for in motorcycle boots. Here are a few points you can keep in mind when you go searching for one:

1. Motorcycle boots should be at least 160 mm in height, and must provide impact protection for the shins, instep and ankles.

2. The soles that are sewn are stronger than the ones that are bonded. Often, the glued soles come off when the rider drags the feet along the road while stopping the bike.

3. The soles should be oil resistant and waterproof. You should be able to walk through a puddle. Fortunately, most leather motorcycle boots can manage this with ease.

4. Lighter boots are better in summers.

5. The leather should be ISO 11642 compliant. This is a test of color fastness in water.

6. Your boot should have at least 10 mm clearance from the edge to the upper.

7. Uppers should be abrasion resistant.

8. Leather should be at least 2.5 mm thick and soles should be 4 mm not including the cleats.

9. Contoured boot soles aid in traction and should be made from a durable material.

10. The leather used should be thick enough to offer protection but supple enough to be comfortable and soft.

11. A flex panel in the ankle area is very comfortable. It allows you to flex your ankles while applying the brakes, or even while walking.

12. Flex sections are missing in engineer-style slip-on boots because the wide upper allows enough movement within the boot. However, slip on boots are also likely to slip off.

13. Its best to have boots secured to your ankle with laces, zippers, hook-and-loop straps or a combination of the above.

12. The lining in a motorcycle boot is very important. It should keep you dry, ventilated and snug in all kinds of weather. Wearing the right socks can also make a big difference. Stores that sell serious backpacking equipment will in all likelihood have high-tech socks.

13. Functional motorcycle boots must provide enough tread for stability. A tread pattern that runs sideways as well as fore and aft is great.

14. Thick rubber soles help to absorb vibration. You can also consider some padded inserts. There are enough available at the local stores.

15. Motorcycle boots should provide adequate heel and toe cups designed to flex under pressure.

Hair bows lingo

Makers of hair bows have to quickly learn that there are different widths of ribbons. The width is the length across the ribbon. The more common widths used are 1.5”, 7/8”, 5/8”, and 3/8”. Some the lesser used ones are the really wide ribbons in 2.25”, which make a really large and thick hair bow. Sometime ribbon factories make ribbon in 1” widths. This width is very close to the 7/8” and is sometimes hard to tell the difference. Ribbon manufacturing companies can come out with their own unique widths, but generally, these are your only options.

The 1.5” width is a good ribbon width to start with because there is more to hold and work with. The 7/8” or 5/8” widths are good for making center knots for the bows. The 3/8” is a nice width for very little bows or they make a nice center for a larger hair bow. I would not suggest knotting a 3/8” width ribbon unless it was for a very tiny hair bow, or you are placing it on top of a 7/8” or 5/8” width ribbon and then knotting it for a fun look.

Some ribbon makers like to use wood burning tools for what they call “heat sealing” their ends. Most grosgrains will melt at very high temperatures, and that is simply all bow makers mean when the say their ends are heat sealed. There are now other tools being made just for sealing off ribbon ends to keep them from fraying, and several ribbon web sites are now offering them to their online customers for making hair bows.

Another popular way to keep your ribbon ends from fraying is by applying Fray Check™ or any other brand to the ends of your ribbon. It is a liquid that, when dry, will harden and not allow the ends to fray. These products can be found in any craft store. Be careful when trying out different brands because some will leave a mark on the ribbon and not dry clear. You do not want to apply so much though that it drips off the hair bows or leaves a runny mark down the ribbon.

Then there are the hair clip or hair fastener options for hair bows. The alligator clip looks like an alligator’s mouth when it opens and closes. It generally has no teeth on this style of clip. They do however come in double pronged and single pronged. Single pronged is nice when you are going for the least heavy and bulky, and double pronged is nice when you need that extra prong to hold it in the hair.

A French clip is the kind that you squeeze two prongs to release if from the closed position, and will spring open like a mouse trap because of the tension it is under by the semi-loose bracket on the inside. That bracket is in the shape of a crescent.

Probably less common, are the plastic clip or barrette and a snap, which some makers of hair bows use, and they are pretty simple in nature and are plastic or metal so to give you the lightest possible weight on finished hair bows.

How to choose your jewelry armoire

Do you often misplace the strands of pearls you wore at last night's dinner at the opera with friends? Can you never find your favorite piece of jewelry when you need it most for that very important date? Well, worry no more. Get a jewelry armoire to store your jewels in the most elegant and efficient way.

A jewelry armoire may not be as huge as the special room beneath Buckingham Palace where Queen Elizabeth keeps her jewelry collection, but it certainly can store more of your beads, stones aand bangles than the musical jewelry box that you've kept since high school for sentimental reasons.

Armoires

The French word armoire originally meant an arms cabinet or gun storage, but not anymore. In these modern times, an armoire is defined as a tall cabinet, usually with drawers, shelves and doors. Armoires nowadays can be wardrobe armoires, jewelry armoires, entertainment armoires and just recently even computer armoires.

Even family-friendly Wal-mart stocks faux burl wood jewelry armoires for less than $200 ordered online, so there's really no excuse for not getting out there and choosing your jewelry armoire.

How to choose your jewelry armoire

1. The first thing you need to know is your woods or non-woods and including your pretend woods. And then decide which suit you most.

Do you like your jewelry armoire to gain more character and charm even with wear? Then a real solid wood jewelry armoire is for you. Most real wood jewelry armoires are made from oak, maple or pine, so you can choose from the classic yellow brown oaks, regal cherry red maples or mission brown practical pines.

Do you not mind the look of an engineered MDF teamed with laminates or wood veneers for your first jewelry armoire? Then you can hop on to the internet and shop for hand-carved, hand-painted jewelry armoire beauties which look like wood and cost less.

2. The next thing to decide is where you are going to put your jewelry armoire. Will it stand next to the Victorian mahogany chest of drawers in your bedroom? How much space do you have for it? Do you want it to match with the other furniture in the room? Or do you want it to be a centerpiece?

Depending on your answers, you may want to consider the homely French country style with its handcrafted doors, the elegant Queen Anne dark cherry heirloom style or the chunkier mission brown jewelry chest box style.

3. How will you use your jewelry armoire?

Will it be mainly a storage space for your jewelry? Then you may want a tall chest of six to eight drawers with sides that swing open to hang your pearls and necklaces.

Or will it be a place where you can sit down, try on that flaming red ruby necklace after you've put on your makeup? Then you might consider having a shorter vanity armoire with mirror, vanity and a soft-cushioned bench.

4. Are there any fengshui (or child proofing) considerations for your jewelry armoire?

Does it have to have round edges so as not to shoot sharp darts of energy while you are trying to relax before an important party? Are you afraid your toddler might bang her head on the sharp rectangular edges your jewelry armoire as she uncontrollably waddles to you while you're putting on a pair of ruby earrings? Then the half-round jewelry armoire with rounded legs might be the one for you.

5. Are there any other security considerations for your jewelry armoire?

Do you have home contents insurance but would still feel safer if your jewels are locked? Then you may want to get a jewelry armoire that can be locked.

6. And last but not least - how much are you willing to pay for it?

Does your budget fall around the $300 mark? Then you can buy popular, best selling brands in real oak with mirror, eight drawers and side swing doors to hang all your pearls and golden necklaces.

Do you have around $400 to spare? Then you can get yourself an elegant dark cherry red maple Queen Anne jewelry armoire accented with detail rice carved posts on its doorface.

How about if you just have $59.95? Then the excitement of the hunt for good and used jewelry armoires is for you. Last time I checked there was a cherry Queen Anne jewelry armoire chest box being auctioned on ebay for a mere $59.95. But you better hurry.

Live online poker games guide to having responsible fun

Live Online poker has truly exploded lately. There is an increasing number of websites everywhere where you can take a dive into the world of online poker. However, with playing comes the common and unavoidable world of addiction.

That is when the world of live online poker can be a danger for many people. There are more people every year that get addicted to gambling. They can become addicted to offline gambling or it can be online gambling that they become addicted to. Whichever one it is they can be looking at a tough time.

It’s not too hard to see why people can become addicted to gambling either. This is due to the fact that most people find an adrenaline rush when they play. The tentacles of live online poker do not discriminate. You could be a professional at the game or just a newbie; however since we are human we are prone to weaknesses. And once you have tasted the forbidden fruit of online poker you might find that you are hooked.

The addiction creeps up on you once you have won a game or two. Regardless of the amount, you might find that you want more and more. That is when people should be aware that the live online poker rush has gone from being a simple game into a serious addiction. The reality, however, is that when you are addicted, you are often in serious denial. Then it only takes something serious like ending up in financial distress to actually make you realize that you have the addiction devil on your shoulder.

The main problem for people who play live online poker is that they will see the flashing signs on the websites and get drawn in that way. Like moths to a flame. The human eye is prone to the lure of something new and interesting. The worse part for most people is that they see the promise of huge cash payouts, slogans that say “We will pay out $10,000 to the winner of our tournament.” These kinds of banners and advertisements can pull an addict further in to the world of online poker. Then the big cash payout promises become merely you forking out more money from your pocket and ending up with a mountain of debt.

However, it isn’t all doom and gloom for live online poker players, many people that have signed up for the online poker websites have had a very good time. They haven’t become addicted and they are only online playing occasionally just to kill some time. The main reason that these kinds of people don’t get addicted to live online poker, is because they don’t play for real money. There are websites that will let you play for real money whereas others are just for fake poker chips.

But if you think that you could be addicted then the best thing is to seek help. The best telltale signs of online poker addiction are debt and lack of social interaction. If you look at your bank statements and the bills piling up in the corner, then there is something wrong. Get the addiction problem solved before it further erodes your life.

Overall online poker is a great game to play, but you have to make the decision if you would like to play some serious poker and bet real money. Or if you would like to just play for fun. Many online poker websites will offer you money when you sign up that you can use for gambling. The choice is entirely yours, but the main thing to remember is to have fun.
