Identity theft prevention

Once again, there have been more instances of Identity Theft, as a result of unsecured networks, greedy employees and contractors, and lost or stolen laptops. More people have had their personal information compromised, and now currently live in the possibility that someone out there is using their identity for illegal activities, such as immigration, money fraud, or even medical fraud. Some of the people affected don’t even know that their information has fallen into the wrong hands. Others may have received a letter from some institution alerting them to the fact that their identities may have been compromised.

How aware of these events are you? Are you watching the news, or reading the newspaper or learning about it on a website on the Internet? Do you pay attention to Identity Theft, even though it may have not happened to you yet? Or are you just know paying attention to the overwhelming breaches because you just had a bad experience due to someone actually getting your personal information? If it has happened to you, then of course your awareness is already raised, but if it hasn’t yet, you may want to pay attention to what’s going on in the world.

There are services out there that can monitor the use of your personal information. The first and perfect example is to talk to one of the 3 main credit reporting agencies, Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion. They’ve also partnered together and created a website, annualcreditreport. com, where you can request a free credit report once a year. You may see a lot of companies offering services to monitor your credit, or keep a watchful eye on your personal information. Before you sign up for this, make sure you do your research on which company is to be trusted. The last thing you want to happen is to have your identity stolen while trying to keep an eye on it.

Another step you can take is to set up an alert based on a company you use, such as your bank, or investment company or University, and every time that company is mentioned, you will receive an email notifying you. Google allows for this to be possible by their alert system found here: google. com/alerts. For example, you can set up an alert for your bank “BANK NAME” and anytime that they appear in the news, you will receive a notification with a link about the news article, and from there you can read the article to see if a breach has occurred. As you set these up, you will learn more and more what terms you are looking for, and what terms you may not want to use.

Again, you must be vigilant when keeping an eye on your Identity. Do everything you can to make sure no one else takes advantage of it.

Different types of saltwater aquariums

Saltwater aquariums should generally contain fewer fish than fresh water tanks, because the species tend to grow bigger in size. Marine species may be bred in a captive environment, or caught in the wild. Captive bred species are easier to care for and usually hardier than caught species. It generates a great amount of stress for a fish to be captured in the wild and then introduced into an aquarium environment. It is often difficult for them to figure out how to eat. Whenever possible, purchase your fish from a retailer that deals only with breeders or from the breeders themselves. There are five different types of saltwater aquariums.

The first type of saltwater aquarium is the fish only aquarium. This is probably the easiest to care for of the five types, simply because you are only dealing with one type of species. Amongst the saltwater fish there are both tropical and coldwater types. They can't be kept together for obvious reasons. The water temperatures vary greatly. Tropical fish are usually brighter in color, and therefore more appealing to aquarium lovers than the fish available in the cold water variety. Most people are somewhat familiar with a few tropical fish such as the Clownfish or the Angel fish. However, few people have heard of such cold water varieties as, the Shanny or the Tompot Blenny.

The second type of saltwater aquarium is the invertebrate only aquarium. These types of aquariums usually consist of shrimp, prawn, hermit crabs and perhaps even starfish or sea cucumbers. The third type is the fish and invertebrate saltwater aquarium. These are more difficult to maintain than either of the two categories separately. Certain invertebrates feed on certain fish, and the reverse is also true. Therefore, it is important to research the species carefully to ensure that you do not put predator and prey together in the same aquarium. Diseases can also spread more rapidly and are more difficult to prevent and cure in aquariums containing both invertebrates and fish species.

The next type of saltwater aquarium is the coral reef aquarium. Reef aquariums can be tricky to maintain and must be thoroughly researched before attempted. The last category of saltwater aquariums is the specialty aquarium. An example of a specialty aquarium would be an aquarium full of sea horses. Sea horses should not be kept with any other type of fish or marine life, because they are timid and slow eaters. Their food source could easily be taken away by other tank mates. Seahorses prefer to swim vertically rather than horizontally, and should be placed in a tall tank. An octopus and a shark or a ray are other examples of fish that require special needs and would fall into the category of specialty aquarium.

Regardless of which type of saltwater aquarium is chosen, research is highly recommended before purchasing any marine life. Make sure you are willing to make the commitment required to care for a saltwater aquarium.

7 areas to focus your home based business

One of the things I encourage people to do when they start out online is to quickly create a plan of what they want to achieve. A vision for your business is better, but not everyone is ready for a vision. Even a plan for the next six months will help you to focus on what you want to get done.

The internet offers an opportunity to reach a wide market if you are effective, and your “shop” never has to close. It will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to anyone that chooses to visit.

Not only is the potential for customers huge, but the number of areas you can focus on online is also huge, and whilst I will not be covering them all in this article I wanted to give you a flavor of some of the things you can do.

Affiliate Marketing - This involves you selling the products of a supplier. Its one of the more popular things to do when you start out online because you don’t need your own product, and many affiliates don’t own their own website.

When you sell goods on behalf of a supplier they give you a commission based fee – which varies but can be anything from 5% to 75% of the total cost of the product.

It makes for a great start because they take care of all the customer service and delivery of the product. The downside of affiliate marketing is the fact that you never earn as much as someone who actually owns the product.

Info-preneuring or Information Products - Information products are amongst some of the greatest products currently churning out money online. And anyone can create an information product. Imagine you know how to build a pond from scratch. That already makes you a lot more knowledgeable than me - the only thing I know about ponds is that they look great in my garden!

Maybe one person in a thousand will want to know how to build the kind of pond you know how to build.

Offline you can write a book about it but not many publishers will want to publish it (although there is self-publishing now!). because for a publishing company it's just not worth the marketing.

On the internet though, one person in a thousand gives you a potential market of 340,000 customers. If you write a book and sell it online for just $10 per copy you could make as much as $3,400,000. All you have to do is tell people what you know-and tell them it's out there. And that costs next to nothing.

If you love writing, or if you have work that you have tried to get published and failed, this may be a great alternative for you.

Niche Marketing - Now you have your information product on how to build a pond, this is called a niche market. You are not talking about knitting, or how to improve your golf swing so you will not want to market to those people.

Niche marketing is basically marketing your website to a particular market. Once your pond ebook is selling well there is nothing to stop you putting up another website about improving your golf swing, or looking after your new hamster. You just decide on the product, create it and put up a website. But again, you must first do some research into what people want if you really want your site to be successful.

It pays to focus in on one particular niche because then people will arrive at your site knowing that you potentially have the product they are looking for. If they are then presented with 30 different products on different topics they will not hang around long enough to bother looking.

Membership Sites – This has become one of the bigger money earners. Imagine taking everything you know on how to build a pond, filming yourself as you build and then creating it into videos. Interviewing pond and fish experts and turning them into audio. Then putting all that information into a membership area where people pay to gain access. 2,000 members paying a monthly fee of $10 to get access to this membership site is a nice chunk of change! Your site could charge a one-off fee, a yearly fee or a monthly fee (or all 3!)

Google Adsense - Google provide adverts that can be placed on your website, when someone clicks on this advert you get money (don't get any ideas about clicking it yourself, Google monitor that and ban you forever!). What has become popular is to have a site that contains articles on a topic, e. g. Looking after a kitten and the adverts will reflect the topic, so there may be adverts on vets, insurance, food especially for kittens, etc etc.

As this information site will help people they are more likely to read the article and then click on one of the adverts. Even better, if you have a product you are selling and you write the article, chances are people will then take a look at your product and buy it.

Google changed the way it reviews sites late July/early August 2006, which really only affected sites that were setup with the sole purpose of getting people to click on their ad link, rather than provide information. The key is to provide quality unique information that you have written yourself, not just a load of clickable adverts and you will be okay.

Network Marketing - Network Marketing or multi-level marketing (mlm) is an area that is well known offline as well as online. Amway is one of the leading network marketing companies, and now, there are a host of opportunities to get into online.

Network marketing works because it uses leverage. The more people you introduce and help them to introduce others the more money you make. The difficulty can be in just getting people involved and then keeping them interested enough to learn how to replicate your success.

But if you manage that network marketing is definitely a great income generating opportunity. The key is to find a reputable company with years of experience, or a new company with solid backing both financially and in terms of the people who support the business.

Finally....

Turnkey Businesses - A turnkey business (also called plug-in) is a business that provides everything for you. You will usually be given a product, a website and/or some training/tools in how to market. Some turnkey businesses offer incentives to be paid if you recruit others to take up the opportunity.

This is a great way to get started because you have everything you need. It is definitely important to look for a company that provides you with help and support.

A great example of a turnkey business is my business called The Wealth Director at thewealthdirector. com You receive a website, a newsletter system (with newsletters), subscribers and leads when you buy a package, everything you need is in one place.

There is also a complete business including personal development support at businessstartuponline. com to help anyone with online business startup and network marketing.

The above is a small part of what is possible online, 7 ways to start making money online. There are many other opportunities and I encourage you to research and find out which one works best for you before getting yourself involved in one.

I also encourage you to focus on one (or two at the most) and enjoy earning a living from them before moving on to running another business.

The valencia spain fallas nowadays

Spain and especially Valencia is filled with tradition, and Las Fallas is the most popular and outstanding tradition in this marvellous city. It is a festival where everyone can participate whether you are from the local land, a foreigner who has chosen to spend some time there or an intentional tourist who has planned to visit the city on purpose to find out what emotions can be lived. Satire and gaiety are two very important concepts that you must keep in mind along with good food and entertainment on practically every corner. It is always held from March 15th to the 19th, Saint Joseph's Day, when the great bonfire or Fallas are burnt. Let's find what its all about.

No one really knows how it all started, but it seems to have began with a pagan festival having to do with Saturn, something very much celebrated in the old Roman Times. All activities were put aside except cooking, in those times done over wooden fires where a lot of kindling wood was not only used for light and cooking but also to alert the towns people and those travelling by sea. Saturn is also linked to Satan and there is no doubt that all this can be tied together with fire and the pagan tradition of burning things to get rid of bad spirits.

But a more recent explanation will take you back to 16th century when the carpenters guild used tall sticks with various arms and rags soaked in tar as if they were candelabros for lighting in the streets in winter. But when spring time came around, they did their spring cleaning and made heaps of wood and all the material that they no longer needed in the town square with the candelabros in the middle. Soon, many people would take advantage of this massive clean-out and threw old clothing and other household objects. With the imagination of a few townsfolk and being as the candelabros could be dressed with the old clothing, they started to make real like figures, some of which looked quite like some of the people from the village. And being as the people needed this time to organize their homes and some time to enjoy themselves and the spring season, they made it an annual event and from there - a tradition. They other surrounding neighbourhoods started to do the same and now there are over 360 huge Fallas or intricately elaborated carton monuments as if there were comics made real, just in the capital of Valencia.

Fallas and spring cleaning go hand - in-hand

But even though we can still relive traditions from many centuries ago, none can escape progress. So in order to make Valencia Fallas more well known, the printer guild came up with booklets or pamphlets explaining what satire or criticism all the different Fallas wanted to express. Back then, the people did not dare to openly criticize the king or political leader in power so the figurines were mainly about machism and females who were " slaves" in their own homes and to men. But this has completed changed and there is an ample range of freedom in expression and very astutely done. The only problem is that the explicative signs which accompany each fallas or carton monument are in Valencian, the local language.

Easy come and easy stay for Valencia Fallas

One of the best parts of fully enjoying a popular festival is being able to get there and have a comfortable stay with the minimal amount of problems possible. And thanks to the nearness of the Valencia Airport to the city, the long lists of flights you can catch daily from almost any European city, especially from England, the wide range of prices and availability of hotels and the quickness of having a car hire for your personal use, your trip cannot be anything but a great success. And now with the city's preparation for the 2007 America's Cup, the world's most important sailing competition, the whole port area where many luxury yachts is being transformed, adding to the magic of Valencia Fallas.

Speed read faster than ever with these 4 tips

Many people, particularly students, would love to be able to absorb information faster. But before retaining information, they have to go through the first stage of learning, which is reading.

For many individuals who are pressed for time, speed reading has become a necessity. However, it's not just the reading part that is important. Equally essential is for the reader to fully understand the words coming out from the book or paper.

Speed reading can be learned from courses where you Learn the techniques and how to train. It is then important That you keep practicing your speed reading as well as reading comprehention.

Here are some great tips to read and comprehend faster.

1) Relax.

If you're in the stressed mode, it would be much more difficult to concentrate; hence, it would just be a lot harder for the information to sink in.

2) Know what you want.

Focus on the areas that you really need to learn. Some people read all parts of a book, when all they need to know is a specific chapter.

Know your priority. If you need to find out about a certain subject, go to the Table of Contents and search for the heading that best suits your need. If you need to learn more, then adjust accordingly. The important thing is to weed out the stuffs that you don't currently need.

3) Get rid of the structure words.

Did you know that around 60% of the words we read are structure words? Examples are the words "the, or, and." They are essential in the structure of the sentences; but when you ignore them, they basically mean the same thing. They only serve to beautify, yet you can understand what you are reading even without them. Try not to focus too much attention on structure words.

4) Practice, practice, practice.

When I started exercising with weights, I can only lift the lighter ones. As the time goes by, I slowly add more and more weights as my body tends to adjust and become more comfortable carrying heavier ones.

The same concept goes for speed reading. Set a goal. Figure out how fast you can read, then create a plan to increase your ability.

If you can read 200 words per minute, set a goal to read 250 words a minute. After accomplishing this feat, set a goal to read 300 words per minute, and keep increasing the the goal as your speed improve.

Renting a car first time car renter do s and don ts

Before you rent a car for the first time, try to make an accurate assessment of what your needs are. Consider whether you're traveling alone or with other passengers. Decide how much storage space your going to need. Do you need a compact car, a luxury vehicle, an SUV or truck? Take into account where you will be traveling and your budget for travel expenses.

After you’ve got a short list of your car rental needs, start shopping the different rental companies in your area (or the area you’ll be traveling in). It's very simple these days to look up these companies on the Internet. All of them have websites, and most even do locally based advertising via Google Adwords.

Pick the company that seems to have the best combination of price, terms and service. Remember the old adage, “you get what you pay for” holds true in this industry as well as any other. If one company is considerably cheaper than the others, they’re probably going to have problems in other areas. It’s hard to go wrong, however picking one of the large well-known chains. If the businesses in your area aren’t any of the well known national firms, a quick call to the Better Business Bureau wouldn’t hurt.

If budget is your primary concern, look for a corporation like Rent a Wreck. They’ve been around a long time and provide very good rates on used cars.

When you make your rental reservations, you will need to have a valid, unrestricted license. You’ll also need insurance, either your own or you may buy a policy issued at the car rental establishment. Be sure to check with your insurance company to see if your insurance covers a rental. If it does, don’t buy it through the rental agency. There’s no need to pay for it twice. You will also be required to have a credit card for a deposit.

In some countries, you may need an international driver's license.

Once you have determined what you need in the way of transportation, chosen a prospective car rental company, and gathered the information and documents you need, you are ready to book your car.

You can walk in most car rental companies and rent one on the spot, but there are advantages to booking the vehicle in advance. Making advance reservations can save you time, money and lots of headaches. Often, there are packages and special offers that will save you a bundle by planning ahead. Ultimately, you save time and reduce anxiety because you know you have it all arranged and are confident that the car rental you want is available, reserved for you. Nothing is worse than scrambling at the last minute trying to get transportation when none is available.

You can make reservations by visiting the rental location in person, by phone or online. Many people, including this author, prefer to shop online to be able to look over prices and specials at leisure. Many reduced rates are only available through an online reservation.

Arrange to arrive to pick up your rental car with time to spare. There are often unexpected delays that could cause you to miss a flight, appointment or cause undue aggravation. Avoiding these with a little planning will make a trip flow much more smoothly.

Before driving away, thoroughly check the contract, review the charges, and inspect the vehicle. If there is any damage inside or out on the rental car, make sure that the employee duly notes it on the contract and signs off on them. If anything is missed at this stage, you’ll be charged for it when you return the car.

Make sure you have the appropriate contact numbers in case of emergency or other concerns with your rental car. You never know when a breakdown might occur. If you’re in a strange town this can turn into a minor disaster without knowing whom to call.

Finally, be sure you are comfortable with the rental terms, deadlines and restrictions before you head off to your destination.

Dangerous children in a dangerous world

Juvenile violent crime rates increased 62% from 1988 to 1993, and then declined by just 6% from 1993 through 1997, according to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). However, the rates for juvenile drug and curfew violations, sex offenses, and simple assaults have continued to increase. The greater the number of risk factors and the fewer the resiliency factors the greater the risk that a youth will commit a violent act. To prevent dangerousness in youth, we need to understand the sources of the problem and intervene appropriately.

Youth with histories of aggression often have families that abuse or neglect them, expose them to domestic violence, exhibit untreated psychiatric or substance abuse problems, or are uninvolved in their children’s lives. According to OJJDP, children with more than five risk (community, family, individual, school, and peer) and fewer than six protective factors have an 80% chance of committing future violent acts.

If local community standards favor the use of drugs and firearms, and if there is an acceptance of crime as a way of life, the children of that neighborhood are more likely to use violent means to accomplish their goals. According to Prothrow-Stith (1993), by the time most children are grown, they have seen 100,000 acts of violence on TV, in video games, and in the movies. Many experts agree that media violence affects children. Vulnerable children are more attracted to and affected by media violence.

The families of violent children are often aggressive or neglectful, with problem behaviors, weak family bonding, and little warmth and nurturing, and family attitudes that favor drug use and crime. Additionally, violent patterns of responding can be learned in the same way we learn other standards of behavior or language. Children learn what it means to be a woman or a man and how adults behave through watching their parents and other adults. If the adults in their lives solve problems in a violent manner, that becomes the “norm” for expected behavior. Seventy-nine percent of violent children have witnessed violence between their parents. Violent children are four times more likely to come from homes with parental violence.

Troubled teens often experience academic failure as early as elementary school. As a result, they lack a commitment to school because it holds no positive rewards for them. Many of these children are learning disabled or have borderline or low IQs, making success in a traditional school setting difficult, if not impossible--especially if they do not receive needed services. If their social, problem solving and anger management skills are also poor, they may develop a pattern of fighting and bullying other students. Others drop out of school. "Allowing one youth to leave high school for a life of crime and drug abuse costs society $1.7 to $2.3 million" (Snyder & Sickmund, 1999, p. 82).

Success and positive self-worth are universal needs. When children fail to find these at home or in school, they seek out other youths with similar problems and views. In this deviant peer culture, they can become successful in their own eyes and in the eyes of their peers. A deviant peer group often reinforces antisocial behaviors and attitudes. Activities are often based on power and control and can escalate into violence. To take them away from that course, a new route to success must be offered. These children find it difficult to relate to “straight” kids--the peers who previously rejected them--who think, feel, and act differently. Bridging that gap can be a considerable task.

If you look at the reverse of the above risk factors, you will find the conditions that have the potential to protect youths from a violent lifestyle. It gives us hints as to where to proceed with treatment. Children need constant, positive, and nurturing caregivers that set rules, respect a child’s individuality and provide secure attachment in order to grow up emotionally healthy. School success and having prosocial peers can be a protective factor. Having a positive social orientation is also helpful. Higher IQ and resilient temperament can help a child heal from environmental insults and learn to cope more effectively. When there are bonds to supportive prosocial family, teachers, counselors, or other adults, kids have a chance to make choices other than violence. Clearly stated family and community rules and expectations and monitoring of child behavior can be effective in helping children learn to follow social norms. A child who has good social and problem solving skills, moral maturity, and an ability to manage emotions, particularly anger effectively, will have less problems with violence. Children who are curious, enthusiastic, and alert, set goals for themselves, have high self-esteem and internal locus of control will be more resilient. Resiliency factors include nurturing, stable caregiver with consistent, but not harsh, disciplinary techniques, positive activities, school success, and prosocial peers.

There is no one factor that predicts youth violence. It is the combination of more risk factors and fewer resiliency factors that can make the difference between a child that is dangerous and one who is not. Understanding that, allows us to plan interventions to help “at risk” youth.

Accident insurance claim personal injury insights

Besides botching up your body (and sometimes your love life) what else does the injury mean to you? It means a ton of financial expense’s, including repairing your motor vehicle, lost wages, a shock to your life style, a tremendous inconvenience and short or long periods of pain and discomfort - - all of it a direct result of your injuries.

Plus, there's a long list of possible medical expenses. For example: Doctor/Chiropractor, Prescription Drug Bills, Ambulance, Emergency Room Care, Hospital or Clinic, Specialist and/or Dentist, Laboratory Fees and Services, Diagnostic Tests, X-Rays and (CT) Scan, Prosthetic Appliances or Surgical Apparatus (Canes & Crutches), Physical Therapy, Registered and/or Practical Nurse Fees, Gauze and Tape, Ace Bandages all of which the insurance company must pay whether they like it or not!

Also, Creams, Lotions, Ointments, Balms and Salves, etc. (Should the lady in your life apply any of these to your aching body I'm sorry to tell you this but her labor is not an expense you can claim).

YOU MUST BE COMPENSATED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE: It's true that a very small percentage of motor vehicle accidents cause big, serious injuries but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be paid big, serious bucks!

EXAMINATION BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY DOCTOR: Claims Adjuster Henry Hard-Nose of Rock Solid Insurance will usually try to pull a fast one insisting he wants you to be examined by the physician of his choice, the local medical con-man of all time, Dr. Nuttin' Wrong. Beware of such a request. Doctors assigned by the insurance company are notorious for stating, in the report they're paid big bucks to execute, "There is no objective basis", for your complaints.

You don't have to agree to be examined by Dr. Nuttin' Wrong. Rock Solid Insurance cannot insist that you submit to their doctor for an examination unless your claim actually becomes a formal court case. So, hold your ground until your attending physician, Ole “Doc” Comfort, has released you. After that it's okay to agree to be examined because by then it's too late! So much time will have passed it will be impossible for Dr. Wrong to minimize the pain, discomfort and suffering your injury has caused you.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT YOUR MEDICAL BILLS IF YOU MAKE THE MISTAKE OF OBTAINING LEGAL HELP FROM ATTORNEY I. M. SHARP: Should yours be a case in which there's no question that you're not at fault, make it clear to the Legal Beagle you've hired, I. M. Sharp, Esquire, that you expect his Contingency Fee will not apply to that which he recovers for the damage to your car, your medical bills, and/or your payment for lost wages. You tell him these are damages you would have collected ANYWAY - - whether he was handling the case for you or if you settled it yourself. Don't you dare be foolish enough to hand him a huge percentage of that which you were going to be paid by the insurance company, whether Attorney Sharp handled the case or not. To do so is the height of financial stupidity!

YOUR BODILY INJURIES: It's a proven fact that the vast majority of motor vehicle accidents cause minor injuries. While bodily injury pain can be specifically measured the limits of what you can endure cannot. Each of us has a different "pain threshold" - - that is, the point at which we begin to feel physical pain. The amount and quality of pain you feel is not strictly dependent on the bodily injury inflicted. It has a lot to do with your previous experience, how well you remember it, and your ability to understand what caused you that pain, and its consequences, the last time around.

Stress and strain magnify physical pain plus personal anxiety will greatly increase it. There are also emotional reactions to the injury. A bodily injury is bound to cause some degree of mental distress. The duration and severity that depends on a number of factors: The type of individual you are, the ultimate consequences of the injury you sustained, and the life stresses or strengths you're experiencing at the time of your injury. (If you can't stand her and she takes a powder you’ll handle your pain better if you really dig the chick and she dumped you for your best friend)!

When it comes to muscle injuries one thing you must keep in mind is that when one part of the body demands rest (by sending out a pain signal) and - - without your even realizing it - - you help your body by placing a new burden on other muscles. It gets complicated because although those muscles may not have been directly injured in the accident, they can still get buggered up and produce a lot of pain because of their new role.

Generating excitement at sporting events

From August through March, sports enthusiasts everywhere can be found watching their favorite college football or basketball games at tailgating parties, picnics, campsites or at home.

Because most remote sports gatherings have become high-tech, the use of satellite TVs, microwave ovens, computers and even blenders to whip up party drinks is becoming more the norm than the exception. And the common denominator is power. Enter the portable generator.

Once reserved only for emergencies, the portable generator has become the real power behind today's tailgate parties. Manufacturers such as Honda Power Equipment are designing generators that are powerful, lightweight, fuel efficient and that provide clean power necessary for sensitive electronics.

"Choosing the right generator is easy: Just select the appliances you'll want to operate and match the output of the generator to your needs," says Tom Pernice, Marketing and Product Planning at Honda Power Equipment. (You can find a handy wattage calculator at honda. com.) "Look for a quiet generator that won't disturb other tailgaters."

These tips will help you get the most out of your generator: Be sure to pack a power strip for plugging in multiple appliances, and because games can run into overtime, take along extra gas for the generator-stored in an approved safety container.

For the party itself, don't forget wet wipes for sticky hands, extra chairs for drop-in guests, personalized beverage containers so guests won't mix up their glasses or cups, and enough water to extinguish hot charcoal. Postgame, enjoy leftovers while you clean up and wait for the traffic to dissipate. Then plan for the next party.

Power to the people: A portable generator can add a lot to an outdoor tailgate party-or other special event.

Plugging in to the fun of a sporting event can be even more electrifying when you bring along a portable generator.

Child obesity in today s world

Child obesity rates are soaring just as high as adult statistics and this is a serious problem that needs to be addressed straight away!! Most child obesity problems stem from the fact that the child was bigger when they were younger therefore the problem was inevitably going to come back. It is so easy to gain weight in a world that convenience foods are most peoples answer to a good and proper meal, and where parents think that food should be used as a reward for children doing something good, all they are doing is contributing to civilizations biggest problem and dooming their child to a life of fatdom.

There are many emotional drawbacks as well as physical drawbacks when it comes to child obesity. When the child goes to school he will automatically become a target for school bullies, the other children will pick on him and he will begin to get depressed and loose interest in school when school should be the happiest time of any child’s life! To prevent this from happening measures need to be taken to loose the weight of your child.

There are also some serious physical drawbacks to having an obese child, he will be a target for chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, bowel cancer and high cholesterol. Those are only some of the more serious problems he will face, other more general problems will be day to day activities will be hindered by his size, nice clothes wont fit him, general movement will be slow as all the extra weight causes pressure on his organs and muscles.

More often than not though once obesity is caught at a young age it can be prevented but when the child gets older to know the difference he must watch what he eats and take care of his health. He is advised to regularly exercise, but this does not mean going to a gym, going out to play football or going to the park are all good things he can be doing to get rid of his excess weight. The parents need to take a look at their lifestyle as well childhood obesity stems from the fact that the parents are not setting a good example and letting their children get grossly overweight.

All this trouble and anxiety can all be prevented with a sensible eating plan and moderate exercise. Don’t waste time trying to fix the problem once its happened, save time before it has happened and prevent the problem!

Why is it vitally important to buy a travel medical insurance when booking a trip

The high travel season is at the corner now. People from all walks of life around the world are currently busy searching for the best offers of air and land travel, accommodations, vacation packages to suit their dreams, needs and budgets. Some of them have even started to make their reservations.

Here I would like to emphasize one vitally important thing, which is a must to remember when booking a trip, but ignored by a great number of travelers.

Much has been written on the importance of having insurance coverage while you are on a trip, away from home. This is an issue that remains somewhat ignored by many travelers. After all, they have been traveling frequently for many years, and nothing happened so far to worry about. So, to buy a travel insurance should not a be a must. It is only an optional precaution!

But, reality urges us to believe traveling anywhere in the world without protection today, is a vital mistake. Regardless of where you are traveling in the world, you must have an insurance coverage to survive any unexpected attacks and disasters, especially after the 9/11 attacks in the U. S.A.

Let's say, you have been planning the trip of your dreams for a long time; you have finally found the opportunity to make your long time dreams of a special trip come true.

You are so excited! You have thought of all the details. You have been actively preparing for this travel; thinking, programming, shopping . . . spending a lot of time, money, and energy! You are proud of yourself that you have finally managed to materialize your dream!

Your trip can really be an unforgettable experience from start to the end, on one condition.

When booking your trip, you should have remembered that, like most exciting events in our lives, travel has some important risks, too. For example, potential medical and/or financial risks associated with travel, can suddenly turn all the excitement and pleasures of the trip to a nightmare.

Your baggage and/or your hand bag with your money, passport, credit cards in, can be stolen leaving you desperate & frustrated in a foreign country.

No one can guarantee that a natural disaster would not happen at the place you would be staying during your trip.

An unexpected accident, injury or illness would suddenly ruin everything. In fact, in the recent years medical costs have increased dramatically, worldwide. How would you be able to pay the emergency medical expenses, expensive hospital bills if you needed an urgent treatment, or surgery and care during your travel when you have lost your money, credit cards, and passport? Isn't it a real nightmare?

In such a frustration, the only thing you would have needed to survive was a reliable medical and travel insurance policy, wasn't it?.

Especially in the light of the horrible threats on and after September 11 terrorist attacks, the war on terror, other ruthless terror attacks in Istanbul, Spain, Egypt and London, frequent flight disruptions and cancellations, airlines' bankruptcies, and more. In addition, travel suppliers such as tour operators and airlines worldwide have made cancellation policies more restrictive.

Therefore, if you have to cancel a trip, it's likely that a big portion of your pre-paid travel expenses will not be refunded by travel suppliers.

Recent SARS and bird flu threats have also been urging travelers and vacationers to seriously consider to buy a travel and medical insurance.

Travel Insurance types and prices defer from one travel insurance provider to another.

You have to review, compare and select the best offers to suit your personal needs.

For instance, some insurance providers do not offer coverage outside the U. S.A. Some companies do not provide emergency medical coverage and care, while others do.

Some airlines do not accept to be held responsible for the acts of God, weather problems, natural disasters, riots and unrests, SARS, bird flu, and similar outbreaks.

The Insurance types you will need on a trip are reviewed below:

Last Minute Cancellation Insurance

With the last minute cancellation and/or interruption insurance you will get coverage on non-refundable deposits you had made when you bought your travel insurance. Read the fine print on the policy carefully when buying this insurance. You should discuss your personal needs with your insurance agent before buying it.

Medical Insurance

This is one of the most important insurance policies you should have. Buying health and medical insurance must be considered as an important part of your travel budget. You can face a health problem or an accident anywhere and anytime during your trip. Be sure your medical and health insurance policy covers illness, accidents, surgeries, hospitalization bills in the countries you will be visiting, emergency medical transportation to your home country. Please remember to have your policies with you when traveling, leaving the copies of your insurance policies with a relative in your home country, in case the policies you have with you are lost.

Comprehensive Insurance Policy

This policy generally covers emergency medical transportation and trip cancellation and interruption, plus other needs you would expect. This insurance costs 5 to 7 percent of the total cost of the trip. You should have it for your safety.

What types of insurance policies do we need for a full protection?

The Essential Insurance Types offered by most providers are Travel, Last Minute, Medical, Health, Life, Hotel, Cruise, Air, Vacations, Luxury, car insurance, sports, and Spa Insurance policies.

Some travel insurance companies also offer affordable coverage for a wide range of winter sports including Ski, Off-Piste and Snowboarding.

We might need not one, but several types of insurance policies according to the general conditions at the destinations we're going to.

If your your kids are going with you, many travel insurance providers let them go free with adults.

Some companies provide policies for students, backpackers, cheap travel, holiday insurance, long stay, international, family travel, single travel, annual travel, annual multi-trips, and more. It's good to know that in this cyber age, you can buy the insurance policies you need online, without even leaving your home.

Most Travel Insurance policies cover Luggage Loss, too.

But you should definitely ask about what's covered and what's not when choosing Travel Insurance Policy to buy. Do ask questions, all questions you might have in mind, until you get all the information you need. It's much better to ask questions when buying insurance than to be sorry later.

How can I find the best insurance type to suit my personal or family needs?

When choosing a travel insurance policy to buy, you should get information on the offers of various insurance providers to compare.

Knowing how time consuming is to search, compare and choose the best travel and medical insurance types and prices to suit your needs and budget, we advice to visit the websites where you can find lists and information about various offers, then compare them, and choose the best ones to suit your needs.

You should keep in mind that buying your travel insurance through travel insurance providers, instead of travel agencies, would save you money in most cases.

In the light of terrorist attacks, unexpected natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis, deadly hurricanes, floods, epidemics, accidents, illness, SARS, bird flu, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives at many places around the world, especially in the recent years, every traveler must seriously consider to buy a travel health and a medical insurance, and some other insurance policies if needed, providing a reliable full coverage against both expected and unexpected threats.

Timeline of bridal dresses in the twentieth century

There are only three principal public occasions in a person's life: baptismal, burial and marriage. Among the three, only marriage allows great honor for the principals. Throughout the tradition, marriages had been considered as the special day for a lady who is about to pledge her matrimonial vows towards the chosen one.

Marriage is Her Big Day more than that of the groom. This is why marriages have always been made special and bridal dresses created as such to fit the festive occasion. This practice of making the bride look magnificent in her bridal dress runs down throughout the history, with widespread influence dating back to medieval times.

Bridal dresses were not always white, in opposition for what have been usually perceived by most people. Bridal dresses before the Victorian era would normally adapt the color of what is trendy and what is available. Shades of lively colors were normally used and pastel colors were also popular. But by mid-1800s, white bridal dresses became the norm when Queen Victoria chose a white bridal dress for her wedding day. The same dress was worn over a black silk dress fifty years later. She also was responsible for setting the fashion of having her bridesmaids carry the train.

1920s

In his decade, revolutionary changes were done with fashion. Up well to 1920s, bridal dresses were created in accordance with what's the norm. The hemlines rose from shoe to above the knee and became more curtailed. But later, many considered the length of the bridal dress inappropriate for church services, thus the replacement of full-length gowns. In this decade too was the dropped waist and shapeless bodice dresses reach its height of popularity.

1930s

The depression in thirties followed the roaring of the twenties. Women changed from the boyish look to the more profound expression of a woman's body. Normally, the bridal dresses in this era hugged the body of the bride. To emphasize the shape of the body, bridal dresses were given boat-shaped collars.

1940s

Fashion in the 1940s almost died down, and the same was true for the white bridal dresses. Clothes rations started in 1941 and continued up to the end of the World War I. A number of brides struggled for silk dresses but most suited themselves for the uniform. Those who were not commissioned in the army wore the same costumes.

1950s

The padded shoulders of the last decade were superseded by the narrow shoulders in the 1950s. However, many brides wanted their dresses adopt the intermediate style. The bridal trains were fashioned after the trains of the Elizabethan era. But another fashion arrived - The New Look outfit. Simply put, the New Look outfit is tailored after the ballerina dresses in terms of length. The dress typically has a jacket bodice with tight sleeves.

1960s

There were not so much changes in the bridal fashion in the 1960s. Ladies still preferred wearing the circular dresses, short veils and tight sleeves only differing on the veils with more bouffant approach. Most women wore coronets and a single rose with the veil gathered together from the flower. In contrast with the extravagant and flowing bridal dresses, bouquets in the 1960s were made simpler. More often than not, tiny flowers in tight posies are used.

1970s

After two decades of tights sleeves, Tudor sleeves were introduced in the seventies. The high-waisted line of the 1960s gradually moved lower to a princess line. Trains diminished too and the cuts of the dresses were made far simpler.

1980s

By this era, the waistlines had returned to their normal position. The dresses were much fuller now and the big bouquets returned back to fashion. This period was marked with more extravagant sleeves, suited after the bridal dress of the Princess of Wales.

1990s

Wide skirts remained popular with the start of the 1990s. However, different fashion icons popularized varieties of skirts. But among the most popular are the super low waists with skirts flared down.

New Century

With the coming of the new century, the norms with wedding have changed too. Themed costumes were much more practiced today and so are the themed bridal dresses.

There is no doubt that bridal dresses remain to be the eternal testimony of a wedding. And the efforts of making the dresses extravagant and special are both to the benefit of the bride's contentment and the ever-changing fashion trends.

How to take a sauna

:
How to Take A Sauna

With the recent popularity of far infrared saunas and steam saunas comes the necessity of learning to use them properly and safely. Listed below are the traditional steps the Finns would take in order to benefit fully from their cleansing saunas. And the Finns should know, as roughly one in five inhabitants possesses a sauna.

It should be stated that one should consult their health care practitioner before embarking on any kind of sauna program, though it's interesting that sauna usage doesn't seem to harm the five million plus Finns and many others who know how to take a sauna correctly.

How to Take a Sauna - Traditional Finnish Style

1. First of all one should disrobe completely before entering. It is also important to remove watches, rings and all other jewelry because the heat of the sauna may distort the metal and burn the flesh that wears it.

Contact lenses and glasses should also be removed, as should dental plates and the like. It is common to wear kick-off sandals to walk into the sauna though these are usually left on the floor and never used when on the benches. In the
old country, sandals were not used, but instead a bowel of water is placed inside the sauna on the floor and the feet are dipped in this as one enters.

2. Hikoilu - When entering the sauna for the first stage, it is important to remember that there will be at least two levels of benches - the high bench is always the hotter, and the corner of the room diagonally opposite the stove is always the hottest.

This stage is a dry heat where the outside cares of your life can be discarded and the mind and body refreshed. By tradition hikoilu is invariably a period of silence and lasts about 10 to 20 minutes.

3. Vilvoittelu - When a heavy sweat has been reached - one can hear the perspiration dripping down to the floor - this next phase of "vilvoittelu" has been reached and one can then leave the sauna. Traditionally users have sought a cool place of any kind like a swim in the lake or pool, maybe a cold shower, a roll in the snow, or just a bucket of very cold water. Some people simply sit down in the cool outside air.

Instinct will tell you when the correct time comes to return to the hot room, usually when the heartbeat returns to the regular rhythm. Both the heat and the cold produce a slight increase in the rate of the heart beat, but this adjusts quickly to normal in healthy people. If there is a pounding or feeling of faintness, the person must leave the heated room and sit quietly. Drinking water with electrolytes would prove helpful also as well as fresh fruit juice.

4. Vihtominen loylyssa - This is the second session inside the hot sauna room. Traditionally birch twigs were heated in a bowel of warm water near the stove and the bathers sitting on the benches would use them to beat their bodies back
and front to release the oil from the leaves and to open the skin's pores.

Perhaps in modern situations, a dry skin brush would prove helpful before one's sauna session to open up the pores and remove dead skin cells. This third stage lasts about 10 minutes followed by a second cooling off before proceeding to the next step.

5. Peseytyminen - One brings a bucket of cold water, soap and scrubbing brushes into the sauna and scrubs the body. Traditionally, people would pair off to scrub each other's backs.

6. Huuhtelu - This is a longer session outside, rolling in the snow, a long swim or a washing with shower or buckets in the coldest water available.

7. Jalkilammittely - A fairly short warm up in the sauna which is usually followed by another short swim, dip or shower. Always finish with the cold, but not for a long exposure.

8. Jaahdyttely ja kuivattelu - This is an air bath for cooling and relaxation. Generally, except in harsh winters, one dries with a towel only the hair and back of the neck; after a good sauna the body can dry itself and adjust naturally to any temperatue without difficulties or harm.

The Finns really know how to take a sauna, you say? You may notice that a sauna is far from being another steam bath. The idea is that enough water is used to keep the hot, dry air from drying eyes and mucous membranes, but this depends upon the host. In Northern Finland, it was a social status symbol to be a man who could take a lot of hot steam and smile about it.

Today this information about how to take a sauna may sound old-fashioned or impractical but in a few localities it still works and works well. The same principle of cleansing impurities from the skin can be found in aromatherapy portable steam saunas that come in convenient home or office structures like
these: Portable Steam Saunas

Also, far infrared saunas have become popularity because of their ability to penetrate deep into the sweat and sebaceous glands to remove toxins. Some of the higher quality models are discussed here: Far Infrared Saunas

For those who merely wish to read about the efficacy of far infrared sauna therapy a free guide to sauna usage is available online: How to Take A Sauna

How to act on a first date

The key to a successful first date is to relax and just be the real you. If you try to act in a way that you think the other person will like, then they may start liking someone who you are not, and in the end you will wind up breaking up and getting hurt, so honest truly is the best policy, and in the end if you are just being you and it does not work you, you know they were not the one for you.

Dating is like gambling at poker, sure a good bluff may win you a hand or two but you are not going to win the World Series of Poker by bluffing, only by playing the best you can. This is no different from dating if you make things up to try and impress this person they are not liking you but are liking the fake you and eventually they will see the two are no the same.

Try to think back to the things you talked about when the both of you spoke on the phone and see if you learned anything that may help you decide where to go for your date, but if you do not have enough information about them to know what they may like you sometimes have to gamble and throw the dice, and hope you don’t crap out.

The most important thing to do on a first date is to have a good time, the bigger a deal you make of it the harder it is going to be and the higher the chances of you making a jerk of yourself. If you are nervous before the date take a few minutes and take a few deep breaths and if this does not help then I recommend you do what I like to do in the casinos when my nerves are bothering me I simply have a drink. The alcohol in one drink will usually calm me down enough to concentrate.

The key to having a nice first date is simple:

Take her/ him to a nice place, quite but not too quiet, you should be able to hear each other but other distractions are also good for those uncomfortable moments.

Do not take her/ him to a place where your friends hang out, this will make her/ him feel as if they are being ganged up on or they may feel out of place and resent you for making them feel that way.

It is very important to have the whole night planned out already before the date and have a backup idea just incase. The tricky part is making it look like it was not all planned. Let's say you decide that you are going to take her for dinner, then after you want to take a walk on the beach do not just say hey after dinner let's take a walk on the beach. I would recommend you wait till after dinner and ask her if she wants to take a walk to burn off dinner and then take her to the beach.

Then when you are on the beach take her/his hand while walking, this makes a physical connection between you and makes it easier later on when you go for your first kiss.

Just remember that dating is a gambling sometimes you are going to get a bad hand and eventually if you play your cards right you will find the right person and win the jackpot.

Mazda mx3 shining through the dark ages

:

If there are the Dark Ages in the journey through history, there also are some gloomy years and periods in the automobile world. The late 1980s and 1990s was considered to be the Dark Ages for most sports coupes. And yet, beneath the gloom, there was one that stood out and had brought the line on forward. The Mazda MX3 was the chosen one. Amidst the dark sales and gloomy market for sports coupes, the Mazda MX3 continued to move forward and reaped in success. Despite the gloomy period, the Mazda MX3 soared and this period became known as its golden years.

The Mazda MX3 has the capacity to take in a maximum of four passengers. It made its public debut in 1992. It lived for a couple of years. The last year for production was in 1998, thus making the Mazda MX3 a six-year-old wonder. The design and construction of this sports coupe was based on the Mazda Familia platform that was known as the EC platform. Perhaps what made the Mazda MX3 a spectacle was its departure from the classic styling of the 1980s which was boxy and quite conservative. This vehicle sported instead smooth fluid lines that showed and exuded modernity and a higher sense of excellent and comfortable driving.

The Mazda MX3 holds no secrets and is crafted not to deceive. What you see is what you get. If you see modern styling and design, that is because the Mazda MX3 has unbridled and innovative performance parts that give life to the car. Two engine options are available. These are the 1.6 liter I4 and the 1.8 liter V6. The Mazda MX3 was marketed in different countries around the globe. With that, the company, Mazda, decided to market it under different names. In Canada, the Mazda MX3 was known as the Mazda MX 3 Precidia. In Australia, it was known as the Eunos 30X. In Japan, the vehicle was called the Eunos Presso, Autozam AZ 3, and Mazda AZ 3.

This vehicle not only made waves in the automobile industry. Truth is, it also made a splash in the movie theaters for it was used and spotted in several movies. In Dumb and Dumber, it was spotted in a convenience store scene. In Ransom, it was there in the final shoot out scene. The Whole Nine Yards, viewers saw a red Mazda MX3 parked in the driveway on the ride side of the screen. The Fast and the Furious also used the Mazda MX3. Other films and movies that had Mazda MX3s included Sweet November, Someone Like You, 15 Minutes, Analyze That, ALIAS, The Italian Job, Deliver Us From Eva, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Cellular, Saved!, Spiderman 2, Laws of Attraction and I, Robot.

Mazda Parts and Mazda Auto Parts sells replacement Mazda MX3 parts and other Mazda parts and accessories online at discounted wholesale prices. Mazda Parts and Mazda Auto Parts’ online store is easily accessed and is available 24 hours a day. Their auto parts are guaranteed to be of highest quality.

Proactive vs. reactive web analytics

Proactive web analytics is necessary for successful web presence. Everything that is meant to help your business succeed online must be tied into your web analytics strategy. Every web site, e-mail campaign, Pay Per Click ad, landing page, and blog must be measured. There is no improvement possible without rigorous measurement of what is happening to your web presence. As the old clichй goes, if you can’t measure it you can’t manage it. Without measuring the effectiveness of your efforts, all you do is make decisions based on feelings instead of facts.

The reactive approach to web analytics equates to running your business in crisis mode. It’s not pretty. Whenever you are doing anything in crisis mode, you can’t plan for anything and without planning you can’t succeed. You should not make a change, spend another dollar, and start a new marketing campaign without measurable goals. Web analytics is your tool to measure your level of success and failure.

A web presence that does not include a proactive web analytics strategy creates an environment where decisions are based on assumptions instead of information based on data. Such a system is a recipe for disaster. Before your start a new e-mail campaign, make changes to your website, begin a pay per click campaign, or make any change you must list specific goals to measure its effectiveness. Once you have set your goals, you must determine your KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). Then, you have to determine what tool you are going to use to capture the data.

With proactive web analytics, you can quantify the elements of your web presence. The insight you get through proactive web analytics is going to help you understand how all that affects your profit.

Reactive web analytics means that you are waiting for something bad to happen before you examine the data. There is benefit in using web analytics reactively, but the greatest value is in proactive web analytics.

For example, if you have been measuring the effectiveness of a landing page for your previous e-mail campaigns, you can get a good understanding of what worked and what was less effective. With the proactive approach, you are armed with useful information that can be readily applied to new projects. You can create the e-mail campaign based on the web analytics intelligence you have gathered through previous campaigns.

Proactive web analytics empowers you to prevent failure, or at least minimize the likelihood of failure. The fix it later, or reactive approach, is most likely to fail because it is always a step behind. The reactive approach to web analytics is the same as putting out fires. Unfortunately, putting out fires results in damage, while preventing fires, the proactive approach to web analytics, avoids damage. To succeed in business you must be able to plan ahead, proactive web analytics is part of a winning business strategy. With web analytics, you are going to be able to measure the KPIs that will make or break your business objectives.

Kansas real estate the middle of the country

Located in the exact middle of the country, Kansas is an agricultural state where you can escape the rat race. Kansas real estate is inexpensive and plentiful.

Kansas

Kansas is about as Midwestern as it gets when you think of stereotypes. Agriculture dominates the state with wheat fields flowing throughout the state. While you will not find oceans or rivers, the state provides plenty of opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing and a variety of outdoor activities. Football and basketball are popular throughout the state. If you’re living in a high stress – high cost state, Kansas represents an opportunity to step back from the chaos. You’ll find a much more relaxed pace of life and affordable cost of living in the state.

Kansas City

Often mistaken as a boring place, Kansas City is actually a booming city. Development and expansion seems non-stop and has resulted in a bit of city sprawl. Still, the city is surprisingly cosmopolitan. Renovations to the downtown area, particularly the River Walk on the Missouri River, make the city a vibrant hub of activities and nightlife. Stroll over to the Westport area and you’ll be in the hub of luxury shops and high-class restaurants. Kansas City is a barbeque town and the city knows how to produce the finest barbeque food in the world. Make sure you try it. For racing enthusiast, Kansas City has recently built a major speedway.

Much of Kansas City is actually in Missouri, but we are including it here because of the name. Confusing, eh?

Lawrence

Sitting on the Kansas River, Lawrence is a great little college town. Home to the University of Kansas, the town is a liberal little town in a state known for being conservative. You’ll find brick buildings and odd little shops in the town. Basketball rules in this town with the fans living and dying with each game played by the college team, the Kansas Jayhawks.

Wichita

Wichita is the biggest city in Kansas since Kansas City is often considered to be a city in Missouri. Formerly a fairly downtrodden place, Wichita has seen a revival with development in the downtown area and along the Arkansas River, which divides the city. There isn’t anything particularly attractive or unattractive about the city. It is just a solid place to raise a family and very inexpensive.

Kansas Real Estate

Kansas real estate is very inexpensive and in abundant supply. A single-family home in Wichita will set you back in the $150,000 range, while you’ll need an additional $80,000 in Lawrence. The same home in Kansas City will run roughly $190,000.

As was typical throughout the Midwest, Kansas real estate did not appreciate at any great rate in 2005. Ranked in the bottom ten among all states, Kansas real estate appreciated at a humble rate of 5.5 percent.

Benidorm for a perfect vacation spot

Property in the Alicante region have become extremely popular in recent years. It is no wonder, since the city is close to the most popular areas of the Costa Blanca, and travel in and out of Alicante airport is very convenient. There are flights to many destinations from the Alicante airport, so visitors and homeowners can travel to this city easily.

There has been a surge of holiday home purchases by northern Europeans. It is a great place to own a vacation home, since travel there is so easy, people can hop a flight and take a short vacation; there are many discount airlines operating flights, so the rates can be very reasonable.

Alicante, the second largest city in Valencia Province has been undergoing a resurgence due to this holiday home buying. The beautiful homes being built have made Alicante a status destination and the real estate market is now extremely hot.

Property values have been increasing, so lucky buyers who already bought there can pride themselves on having their vacations pay for themselves. The expectation is for this trend to continue, so a property in Alicante continues to be an interesting investment.

It is not difficult for a foreigner to buy property and secure a mortgage in Spain. The first thing one must do is to obtain a NIE, which is a registration number all foreigner must have in order to sign any legal documents in the country. The Spanish Consulate in one's home country can assist with obtaining this number.

A great number of vacation home owners pay for their home by renting it out during the periods that they are not using it. This great tourist destination is lovely to visit during the entire year. Though summer is the high season, and rents reflect that, anyone who owns a vacation home can probably rent it out during other periods, just not at the same rental rates. Or, if you want to earn the maximum from your property, you can rent out during the high season and take your vacation in the spring or fall. Of course, you must be realistic and make sure you can afford the mortgage in the first place. If you are relying totally on rental income and you have an empty period, you will find yourself financially strapped.

The first step (after finding your dream property, of course), is to hire an attorney. He will review your contract, make sure the deed is legitimate and has no liens, etc. It is better to find your own attorney than use one recommended by the real estate agent. You want one who is solely representing your interests.

Be aware, however that you will be hit with a very large capital gains tax on your profit when you sell. Spain has a capital gains rate of 35% for non-residents. If you plan on using the property both for vacation and rentals for a number of years, this high rate will amortize over a longer period, but if you plan to or have to sell quickly, it can be quite expensive. Make sure you take this factor into account when you are getting ready to buy a property. You want to make sure you have all contingencies covered so you will not end up losing money.

Evenflo strollers - love on wheels

The Evenflo stroller have beautifully designed fabric and seat harnesses to keep the baby safe and secure. You can have a complete travel system which has a car seat included, but many of the models accept an Evenflo car seat, such as the Evenflo Portabout or the Discovery Infant.

Some people say that some models of evenflo strollers are not well suited for a larger toddler (they are however designed for up to 40 pounds). However evenflo strollers provide comfortable ride for children. There are strollers in the Evenflo line for twins and models specifically for rougher terrain. Evenflo strollers are generally quite lightweight and easy to push. This makes strolling around quite a bit more convenient for the parent or caregiver.

In the past some complained that Evenflo strollers did not have enough storage capacity. However the last years have seen good improvements in the newer models. The reclining seat is a real bonus for both the child and the parent. It can be folded down quickly and easily if the little one falls asleep while you are out. This means you can get on with your day and not have to worry if wee little Jr. is comfortable while sleeping.

Luckily evenflow strollers are quite easy to maneuver if you go shopping. Some strollers simply don't mix well with store floor plans, however evenflow strollers tend to have very good turning ability and don't take up a lot of floor space.

Overall evenflow strollers are sturdy, comfortable strollers that both you and your child will like. There are many components that can be adjusted quickly and easily to match your specific needs. This is nice if one of the parents is taller than the other and being able to adjust the push bar to the right height for each parent is important.

Discover all about the atkins diet - also know as the low carb diet

Nearly everyone has heard of the Atkins Diet by now, even if not necessarily clear on what it is. Some may even know it as the source of “low-carb” diet craze in the country, but don’t know much about it beyond that. Considered as controversial as it is revolutionary, the Atkins Diet has worked successfully for a tremendous number of people, and not so successfully for a good amount of others. This article aims to place a neutral and objective eye on this popular weight loss program.

Re-introduced in the 1990’s (after an initial period of popularity in the 1970’s), the Atkins Diet is the brainchild of Dr. Robert Atkins.

The diet works in several phases, the first – or the “induction period” – lasting only 2 weeks. In this phase, dieters are not to eat any more than 20 grams of carbohydrates of any form each day. The bulk of a person’s diet during this period, then, is fats and proteins. Usually, a dieter will reach their 20 gram limit on carbohydrates simply from the small amounts in foods like salad dressing, cheese, sauces, condiments, and vegetables.

Forbidden from a participant’s diet during this 2 week induction period are fruits, grains, breads, cereal, milk, and vegetables with a high-glycemic index (a measure of the effect a food has on the body’s blood sugar).

During this period, the body enters a state called “ketosis”, where it begins burning its own residual deposits of fat in order to produce the energy for which it previously had been relying on your regular consumption of carbohydrates.

Atkins also asserts that the source of most weight problems people experience is an “insulin-resistance” that causes overweight bodies to have difficulty converting carbohydrates into glucose (or sugar) which becomes energy. In this state of ketosis induced by the induction phase of the Atkins Diet, the insulin function of the body is affected in such a way that impedes the production of more fat.

After the two week induction period ends, dieters are then permitted to increase their carbohydrate allowance by 5 grams each week. In other words: they’re allowed 25 grams of carbs per day throughout week 3, 30 grams of carbs per day throughout week 4, 35 g in week 5, etc.

Depending on the person’s body type and weight objectives, this gradual increase in carbs should level off somewhere between 40 g and 90 g per day. At this point, the dieter is considered to have entered the “maintenance” phase of the diet, where they ought to remain for the rest of their lives. Although counting calories is not a part of the Atkins Diet, studies by the North American Association for the Study of Obesity found that adhering to the restrictions imposed by the Atkins Diet led to a decrease of 1,000 calories from participant’s daily caloric intake.

A quick perusal of the recommendations published by most traditional health experts and health organizations will reveal that 40-90 grams of carbs per day is still a miniscule amount compared to that of what they consider a “standard” healthy diet.

The Atkins Diet also contradicts authorities (US FDA and the American Cancer Society included) that extol the virtues of eating fruits, vegetables, and whole grain breads and cereals. According to Atkins, even “healthy” carbohydrates are harmful in large quantities.

Studies by the Annals of Internal Medicine and the New England Journal of Medicine have actually found that participants on the Atkins Diet experienced an improvement in heart disease indicators.

Like the 80’s and 90’s were to “low-fat” and “fat-free”, Dr. Atkins has helped make the early 21st century “low-carb”. Whether that’s for better or worse is up to you.

Cheap landscaping ideas

This blog is on cheap landscaping ideas. One of the main hassles of a garden is not planting, but weeding. Weeds grow with remarkable speed and can quickly overtake a garden. Using a poison or herbicide like roundup is not recommended as you might kill your plants. I know that the manufactors claim the product breaks down in the soil very quickly but I find with my lawn edges after a second dose of roundup no grass is growing there six months later.

In moving into a new rental property I had a large front garden with a nice quickkerb concrete border to highlight the beautiful weeds. So I began to weed, got sick of it and left it for a month. Big mistake, there were now more weeds than ever. I was going to have to have mulch it or spend everyday in the garden. With the landlord not interested in paying for it it was going to have to come out of my own pocket. Now I don't mine paying for gardening supplies, plants, etc when its my own place, but I'm certainly not keen on giving my landlord a free ride.

So I needed a cheap mulching option, that would look good, work, but not cost too much.

I chose three basic supplies, newspaper - the local rags free and it doesn't take long to build up a stock pile of papers, sugar cane mulch - its comes in a big bags and is cheap, and finally a few bags of bark - not so cheap, but as you will see its used to give colour not as a mulch so only a little bit is required.

Step One:-

Prepare the garden, yes this means a huge effort and weed the whole garden by hand. Rake over the soil so its nice and smooth and then apply the newspaper. The thicker the better.

Min. six sheets thick. Spread it out and then with a hose wet it all down so it soaked. The now heavy paper won't blow around in the wind and will mold better to the grounds surface.

Step Two:-

Next spread out the sugar cane mulch. If you cant access cheap sugar cane mulch, try straw, but ensure it has no seeds in it. Make sure all the paper is covered. It doesn't have to be deep, just enough to cover all the paper. Once again apply water to damp down the mulch. Once watered it takes on a lovely golden colour.

Step Three:-

Now apply the bark. Just grab handfulls and throw it around. You don't want to totally cover the yellow mulch, the barks mainly to give colour and to contrase with the mulch.

I have found this to be a very effective mulch. A year later and few weeds can get through. Nutgrass was the only successful one and I pulled those out by hand and even the nutgrass gave up the fight. The beautiful browns and golden colour unfortunately fade under the harsh sun, but by that time you should have plenty of flower to make up for it. Best of all - NO WEEDING, yes.

Pet stains my carpet is cleaner than yours

Pet stain removal depends on a few common sense factors. Understand that older stains demand lots of effort. Fresh stains, by definition, are totally curable. Stop torturing yourself if you consider your pet stain situation is incorrigible. Maybe you won't have success in totally removing the pet stain. But you can always improve its condition. Let's start with the basics. When applying a detergent go from the outside to the inside. Avoid making the common mistake of scrubbing circularly from inside to outside. Do this and you'll save yourself another big headache.

Don't despair no matter how scary and big the pet stain seems. Use the force of nature in your advantage. Think about how temperature manipulates the physical realm. When something gets hot it melts, making it easier to move around and eliminate. Methodically heat up the pet stain in careful fashion. Just don't burn the whole carpet. An industrial incinerator is not the ideal tool for this job. Start with towels soaked with hot water. Apply the towels on top of the stain. The pet stain should transfer from the carpet to the towels. Repeat several times.

When you finish cleaning, never forget to quickly dry the affected area. A high powered fan can take care of the details. Have one handy during the pet stain removal process. When you finish you might notice that remaining solids stiffen up. Treat these a bit differently. Smash the remaining solids apart and after pick up the pieces. If appropriate, use a vacuum to suck up these little crumbs. When finished, rinse the affected area with water. A little soap never hurts. Finally, let your carpet rest for a few days. It should then look as good as new.

Playing pai gow - part 3

Today's lesson will deal with setting your hand. We've already got the game flow down. In another article, we'll go over strategy a bit more. Setting your hand is the main function in Pai Gow. Don't worry if you don't know how Pai Gow hands rank, because that's the next part of this series.

In Pai Gow, the Ace can be used at the front or end of the deck. For instance, it could be used as Ace, two, three or Queen, King, Ace. The Joker can be used as an Ace or to complete a straight, flush or straight flush.

Once you have your seven cards, I find it's best for beginners to sort their cards from highest to lowest or lowest to highest. If you're playing Pai Gow online, this might already be done for you. Remember, we're going to be creating two hands from these seven cards-the highest hand, which is five cards and the 2nd highest hand, which are the remaining two cards.

When you make your hands, the highest hand must actually be the highest hand. For instance, let's say your hand is: J J 3 4 5 Q Q.

You couldn't make your 2nd highest hand be QQ, because the highest hand would be JJ 3 4 5 and it wouldn't actually be the highest hand.

Let's keep that example going. Part of the strategy in Pai Gow is figuring out how best to set your hands. In our example, we could do something like JJ QQ 3 and 4 5 or something like JJ 3 4 5 and QQ. So, we'd either have two pair and nothing or one pair in each hand. Remember, if you can win at least one of the hands, you keep your cash.

Once you have decided how to set your hand, you place each of the two hands on their appropriate space on the table. Online Pai Gow players will have this done for them.

I can't reiterate this enough: don't take setting your hand too lightly. It's a strategic game. Ideally, you want your second highest hand to be as high as possible, so you can at least force a push.

If your second highest hand won't have a pair, put the two highest ranking cards in there-out of what's left. Let's say your hand is: J J A Q 4 8 3.

For the above hand, we'd want to keep the pair of Jacks in the highest hand. That leaves us with the Ace, Queen, 4, 8 and 3. It would be best to take the Ace and Queen and put those two cards in the second highest hand.

Now that we have a basic understanding with setting hands, it's time to go over hand rankings. We'll do that in the next article.

Do tradesmen like plumbers need a basic website

The answer to the above question, “Do tradesmen like plumbers need a basic website?” is a resounding “yes!” Even tradesmen can benefit from having an easy-to-navigate, informative website. Small traders gain a number of advantages when they use a web builder to create an informative website. In fact, it may be surprising to find out just how many benefits a business can derive by promoting their business on the Internet. Let’s review some of the benefits one derives from using a web builder to promote their small business.

Creating a website with a web builder takes a matter of minutes: minutes that equates to real money and profit for the small business. First, when a small business uses the Internet to advertise, they can immediately reach a broader audience. A website established with a web builder is promoting one’s business 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year long. There’s no better advertisement than ads that work extra-hard for the business it is promoting.

Secondly, a website provides vital business information to current and future clients; and it does so immediately. The minute a website is accessed, a client or customer can get the business’ location information, its hours of operation, and in most cases, can get information about products or services that are available. Moreover, if the web master creates a website that offers the answers to frequently asked questions or contact information, then clients and customers can easily get any questions they have addressed. Plus, online customers can become familiar with the types of products or services that a business offers and they are therefore given an opportunity to browse. Finally, if the business includes personal information on the site, new customers can get a chance to know the operators of the business and will feel more comfortable ordering from them.

Advertising products or services on the web makes such products and services easily accessible. Consequently, having a website and creating a website with a web builder is a wise business move. Customers can order products online with ease and happy customers will pass the word to their friends and family members. Clearly, having a website allows one to improve the bottom line of any business. Moreover, using a web builder to create a website save the small trader a significant amount of money in the way of overhead: smaller traders can actually create and entire store containing their available products online. This means that no employees are needed to manage the store and the online store is open all day every day; maximizing the business’ earning potential.

Undoubtedly, having a website gives the smaller trader the edge over other small traders that do not have a website. Those businesses that take advantage of online advertising reach more people than those businesses that don’t. In fact, it’s possible to reach an international audience when using a web builder to create a website: once the website is picked up by major search engines there’s no limit to how many customers a website will attract. Plus, a website gives small traders an opportunity to provide special offers for their web-based clients and customers only. This is another way of increasing web visitors and subsequent ordering of products or services.

In the end, everyone that is in business can benefit from having a website, whether it is a corporation or a small business. Extensive advertising, reaching a broader audience earning customer confidence, and improving the bottom line of the business are just a few of the many benefits gained from having a website. It only takes a few minutes to create a website with a web builder and the time spent doing so is more than worth it!
